There are a few pretty good Iraq/Afghanistan war movies but generally it was hard to do well at least partially because it was so dumb we were there; making a decent Completely Fabricated War for Venezuela’s Oil movie is going to require satirical capabilities that may not exist.

When I see LLMs pitched as a guaranteed productivity tool for software engineering, the is the counterweight I keep trying to get people to seriously engage with and not handwave away is the future cost, and “oh everything tech gets cheaper” isn’t an answer. Services don’t and LLMs are a service.

Let’s also not forget that the first version of food stamps was the idea of Dwight D. Eisenhower, established in 1959. President Eisenhower looked at a hodgepodge of food programs as people were literally dying of hunger. Hunger wasn’t a political issue, just a matter human decency.

That’s right — your taxes are supporting corporate slave labor. The problem isn’t the people struggling to put food on the table; it’s the corporations that refuse to pay fair wages and the politicians who enable them in the name of profit.

Walmart pays their employees so little that taxpayers have to make up the difference so our neighbors don’t starve, then those folks end up shopping at Walmart since they are often the only food store in town. #Walmart profits off being a shitty employer; corporations are the real “welfare queens”
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.
