Sen. Tillis (R-N.C.) says he’s inclined to support the Grassley-Cantwell bill.

Says he’s heard from constituents worried about the tariffs, esp farmers & restaurant/lodging sectors.

Everyone should care about this. ED boarding leads to increased mortality & morbidity. ER docs know, unfortunately, how dangerous this is.

We need to:
1. Measure and track this metric
2. Invest to solve the root causes*

*the bottlenecks on throughput usually aren’t in the ER

As ER overcrowding worsens, a program helping to ease the crisis may lose funding. “Patients are leaving early or dying waiting” in emergency departments, one expert said. Overwhelmed staff members have reached a breaking point. www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...

Is Congress going to investigate this @amyklobuchar.com @smith.senate.gov
@morrison4mn.bsky.social?

There is NO excuse for this. The convenience of the administration officials is not more important than the safety of our troops or national security.
In 25 years of covering national security, I’ve never seen a story like this: Senior Trump officials discussed planning for the U.S. attack on Yemen in a Signal group--and inadvertently added the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic. www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...
The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans
U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen. I didn’t think it could be real. Then the bombs started falling.

This is open grift and corruption from the President of the United States. And if you can’t admit that it’s a problem, you’re in the grip of a cult.

Every time he does this, he degrades our entire country. It’s also sad. Many Americans who trust him will lose their savings.

We are all patients. We are not fraud or waste.
A friend drove two hours today for her breast cancer chemotherapy only to learn it was canceled due to NIH cuts. Clinical trial ended midstream. No treatment, no restart, no plan, no information. Her bro-in-law's chemo was also canceled.

I have been seeing and hearing a lot of revisionist history about the pandemic from laptop-class types lately.

Any physicians and healthcare workers interested in a project to document what actually happened on the front lines?

Rural hospitals are a lifeline for millions of Americans, but proposed Medicaid reductions put them at risk. When hospitals struggle, entire communities suffer—maternity care and emergency services shouldn’t be on the chopping block.

Republican Medicaid cuts could shutter rural hospitals, maternity care
Potential Medicaid cuts could devastate America’s teetering rural health-care system and jeopardize Republicans’ political power among rural voters.

Employment in restaurants contracted for second month in a row - fears of deportations are real and ICE raids having chilling effect on service sector employment.

It’s a relief to see NE Representative Bacon openly break rank and take a principled stance in support of Ukraine and in defense against Russian aggression.

We need more Republicans to take principled stances. Kudos to him. We need a big tent to turn this around.

You know what would be really cool? A system of government where the whims of the head of state could be constrained by some kind of parliament or legislature, or there were some kinds of “checks” or “balances” that ensured that one person didn’t simply get to dictate how the government worked

RFK Jr. said in his Fox News OpEd that “Good nutrition remains a best defense against most chronic and infectious illnesses”.

The best diet in the world will not prevent infection if you are unvaccinated and sharing air with someone who has measles.

Why are we not seeing a million ads now like in election season showing Musk/Trump/Vance for what they are and what they are doing?

Use your campaign money to educate the public and win hearts and minds. The majority don’t know and aren’t MAGA. Help ensure that we actually have elections again.
DEMOCRATS:

You are committing a historic error right now. The federal government is collapsing and you are paralyzed. You seem unable to even address half the stuff that's happening because it does fit into your pre-fab vision of what good political rhetoric sounds like. You are failing America.

Very useful framing for those of us still struggling to believe what is happening. Depressing but helpful.
What we’re witnessing in America is what happens when disordered discourse captures a political party, then the state itself. The Republican Party was the first to fall - abandoning truth for conspiracy, ideology for grievance, and policy for performative outrage.

Dr. Offit, Can the CDC vaccine advisory committee meet as previously scheduled sponsored by a nonprofit or organization? Webcast or broadcast it and discuss what you would have normally regarding seasonal influenza and the other work you were planning to review?
