"It overshadows all the fear, to see a marlin lit up [with colour], hunting. It's an incredible experience" - Nikki Watt

The Australian woman who spearfished a 162.5kg striped marlin
After a shock cancer diagnosis, Nikki Watt thought she'd never dive again. But now she's broken a spearfishing world record with a huge marlin.

Great piece. I'm sure I heard one report going even further by saying ASIO had "confirmed" it was Iran.

Thanks Ana. Still working on it -- I think your artworks might be a bit too good for my little project!
OK, so I've taken the plunge into self-publishing (which I must say is fun). It's a music book. I have sparingly quoted snippets of lyrics -- 12 words at most, but usually fewer. Is that permitted under 'fair dealing' as a 'criticism or review', as long as the originator is acknowledged? #amwriting

This is not ok.
Wow! Bendigo Writers Festival (15 - 17 Aug) is making guest speakers sign a last-minute agreement to not mention Israel's genocide of Palestinians. Writers who care about human rights are cancelling. Any writer/guest still thinking of appearing should seriously reconsider. Stand up! Refuse to comply

The NSW Police narrative is getting full airplay from the media, but is based on a falsehood. The protestors didn't try to turn back; the police blocked the march and forced everyone back the other way, for reasons that are difficult to understand.

It’s hard to capture in a pic the size/energy of the crowd ready to march over the Syd Harbour Bridge but the station announcer at Wynyard:“don’t worry about tapping off, Transport NSW will work it out, gates are open, you’re heading for George St to the park, keep going, let’s free Palestine” 💕💕

I've been working on story about the toxic algal bloom spreading off the South Australian coast. I just went back and looked at how hot the waters off the coast of Australia were getting starting in September 2024. Here's the visual:

Australia: “Federal funding to deal with algal bloom, but no national disaster declaration”

Cleaning the beaches does not “deal” with the undeclared elephant in the room - rising sea temperatures due to greenhouse gas emissions.

Another ABC failure.

Frankly, Jillian Segal's report is not a serious document and the PM demeaned his office by standing next to her as she delivered it.

This is just so terribly sad. A marine ecosystem dying before our eyes.
Footage captured yesterday at Ardrossan, Yorke Peninsula, reveals more underwater impacts of SA's Harmful Algal Bloom.

With neon green water, the seabed was littered with dead and dying animals. There were also hundreds, if not thousands, of garfish on the seabed, some still alive.
Help. Anyone know what's replaced CNTRL-Z on the updated Word? #amwriting
