Everyone who remembers the internet before enshittification.
A still from the film, Easy Rider (1969). It is dark. Peter Fonda is looking at a campfire offscreen, looking downcast. A caption below says "...we blew it" (one of his lines in this scene).

I downloaded the document but didn't have a link to it to post here. Not sure if it is still online / available.

A text book example of how a social media ceo communicates their reasoning and actions to users (others take note).

Also some useful technical information for those unclear on exactly what bans mean on a distributed social media platform.

I hear and see your concerns. Over the weekend, a couple users hosted on Blacksky's PDS were banned from the Bluesky app and thus the Bluesky API servers. This was a weakness of our system I've been aware of and hoped we had more time to address before any kind of public incident. 1/11

Recommend this (free) event.

I came across Estas some time ago through a document they submitted to the UN Committee for the Rights of the People with Disabilities. It seems like an interesting self-advocacy group, though I couldn't find much info about it at the time.

Seems like brain fog is the next condition to get the "everyone is a bit autistic" treatment by the media

No pitches? I'm really surprised by that - I thought it would have been one of the more obvious ones to be suggested. It may not be the most well-known or popular show, but there are so many interesting angles for an academic book to take.

I have enjoyed the previous challenges, but won't be doing this one. I'll still be watching with interest so will update my ALL50RTS feed to cover the new tags, in case anyone else also finds it useful. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Congratulations. I edited a book for Intellect and found them very good to work with at the time. I'm too busy, but you must have a book on Sense8. It seems to tick all the boxes: interesting co-creators, a ground-breaking production, unique themes, premature cancellation and fan-driven revival.

The thing is that the BBC, for example, already has these correspondents elsewhere in the organisation. It feels like the newsroom just doesn't consult them (or listen to them) - even in obvious situations like this.

in the 23rd century historians are going to need have their Routledge Handbook of 21st-Century Internet Memes, their Cambridge Companion to 4Chan, and their Oxford Guidebook to Computer Gaming Culture handy to make sense of the rise of American fascism and the fall of the United States

Anyone interested in autism research and policy (from a neuro-affirming perspective) might like to follow Aimee's live posting from #AEC2025.

"As policymakers, we are aware that every decision we make impacts everyone, no matter how big or small... we know that it is essential that we make these decisions with research & evidence."

Foley recognises the importance of accurate information & responsibility to resist damaging misconceptions.

Great to hear about Cat Hughes ( @naturetable.bsky.social but not very active here). Worked with her previously at Autistica and it was a shame to lose her.

Great live coverage of the conference. Well worth following.

Good morning #AECONGRESS2025!

As is my conference tradition, here is a photo of me taken today to show what I am wearing in case you would like to say hello.

I will be live posting the conference again for accessibility, but please note there may be talks I can't share or don't have the energy for
Conference tradition, Aimee has taken a selfie of her so people can find her. She has long brown wavy hair, a dress with poppy illustrations, smiles with speech bubble earrings that say "Neurodiverdent crew"

The "not easily repaired or recycled" part is the fault of the manufacturer, not you.

Seen a few posts saying that working at a charity shop / thrift store gave them first rights to the donations that come in. Has that always been a perk of the job or is it something new?

A painful loss. I flipped back and forth between having this or New Face in Hell as my 12 point song before settling on the other one and giving this 11. Shows how every point counts.
andyclarke.bsky.social
I was quite optimistic seeing New Face in Hell got a bonus on the first day, but in the end it only got one other vote until the bonus in my last minute list.

Traditionally, Egyptian cotton is regarded as the softest (due to long thread length). Chemicals left in from manufacture can also make sheets feel scratchy ao washing a few times can also help.
