Seeing journalists reacting like this makes me think there may be hope for the profession yet.
It makes me feel stupid I didn’t know better, considering my proximity. This has done real damage to us all, and it feels like a failure of my own imagination that I could not have seen it coming. All these years I’ve said “journalists don’t do that,” I’ve apparently been the one who is wrong.

Is he mentally capable of issuing pardons? Couldn't there be a lawsuit that, certainly based on photos, tweets, video, of yam tits, there is plenty of evidence he's not mentally stable.

The biggest reason is that Democratic leaders tend to overestimate how much trying-and-failing makes you look weak and underestimate how much not-trying makes you look weak.
