You’re not wrong. Like a frog singing a show tune in the moonlight.

I might start a “Legionnaire of the Antichrist” t-shirt business. I think it’s a goer.

By friends or enemies? Or both?😆

Is it wrong that I’d be thrilled to be called a “legionnaire of the Antichrist”?

The Shapeshifter's Daughter is an Orkney-set, modern-day reimagining of the Norse tale of Hel - the Queen of the Underworld that was banished by Odin.

The Stromness Library plays an important role in the book, so we are delighted to host this event in Stromness. ❤️

Thank you to the kind soul who compiled all the late 80s Nescafé Gold Blend ads. Can’t stop thinking of them as Rupert Giles’ backstory. Absolutely riveting.

David Simon, creator of ‘The Wire’, being interviewed by Ari Shapiro (NPR)
SHAPIRO: OK, so you've spent your career creating television without Al, and I could imagine today you thinking, boy, I wish I had had that tool to solve those thorny problems...
SIMON: What?
SHAPIRO: ...Or saying...
SIMON: You imagine that?
SHAPIRO: ...Boy, if that had existed, it would have screwed me over.
SIMON: I don't think Al can remotely challenge what writers do at a fundamentally creative level.
SHAPIRO: But if you're trying to transition from scene five to scene six, and you're stuck with that transition, you could imagine plugging that portion of the script into an Al and say, give me 10 ideas for how to transition this.
SIMON: I'd rather put a gun in my mouth.

Picture of a man who really looks like he sold his ffing soul.

Also in the news: apparently the arts aren't important enough to study at degree level, but artists will also kill the AI industry.
Make it make sense, you absolute freaks.

I didn't know about this Signal For Help hand gesture until today. I'm quite sure that a lot of other people don't know it either (as demonstrated in this video). If you just learned it now too then it was worth posting.

If they can get this to work in people, it’s huge.

If anyone wants a bit of gently creepy contemporary fantasy this Halloween, The Devil in the Vicarage goes on sale the 30th of October and you can buy it here:

UK: www.amazon.co.uk/Devil-Vicara...
US: www.amazon.com/Devil-Vicara...
Promo card for The Devil in the Vicarage with the artwork and cover copy: Something bad lurks in the leafy heart of Surrey. Well yes, obviously there’s Guildford, but that’s not what I...

Okay, fine – there’s another horror lurking in the depths of Surrey. When I receive a cryptic phone call one morning, it’s my new life as a gentlewoman-wizard calling. The Carnells may be unpopular and almost extinct, but apparently one of us still has a duty.

My destination? Winterfold Vicarage in the village of Cranleigh. My task? Unknown, but how could sending me of all people to a vicarage possibly go badly? Yes, obviously apart from me being slightly possessed by a devil?

Hmmm indeed. An interesting listen. Also, I want a skull for my desk now.

Unfortunately not. For the purposes of the settlement, they have defined a book as per this extract. When is a book not a book…
“Book” refers to any work possessing an ISBN or ASIN which was registered with the United States Copyright Office within five years of the work’s first publication and which was registered with the United States Copyright Office before being downloaded by Anthropic, or within three months of publication.
angelacleland.co.uk
Yes - hence most rest-of-world works won’t be registered with the US Copyright office. This presumably means there is a second case to be brought, especially as a settlement is on the table for US authors. I’m hoping @societyofauthors.bsky.social can help with how this happens/who brings it.

YESSS! I love it. I love a tightly contained movie, if you follow.

That’s brilliant!🤩 Happy everything! Double cake for you. 🎂 🎂🥳
