Election night, again
In Jefferson County, Kentucky, today, a Democratic union leader will try to keep a state Senate seat for his party. Harris won the district, which contains Louisville, by a slim margin last year, but Dems have performed better here in non-federal races.

When you add this to Judge Matey's similar dissent earlier this year, you can see that there is an emerging strand of thought among the more radical right-wing jurists that would aim to strip basic rights and freedoms from noncitizens. It's not had any success yet, but its adherents are growing.
NEW: 6th Cir upholds the fed law barring undocumented immigrants from having guns.

What's shocking, though, is Judge Thapar's separate opinion arguing that noncitizens lack not only 2nd Am rights, but likely 1st, 4th & other const'l rights! 🧵

A key factor in successfully extending the subsidies now would be to make sure that people knew they were suddenly eligible for more money and had better insurance options as a result.

People are already seeing price spikes—and many will have to give up health insurance. But Congress could enact a retroactive fix.

Under Trump:
- The economy has slowed, heading towards recession now
- Inflation is rising, most things cost more
- His cutting of energy subsidies is driving up utility prices
- He's taken 100s of billions from health care/food assistance in a war on working people
- He's making measles great again
A few points here:
- Over 300,000 jobs on average were created each month of Biden Presidency
- In the last 3 months of his Presidency the average was 203,000
- Only 64,000 jobs were created last month, and the unemployment rate has risen from 4 to 4.6 under Trump

This Trump thing ain't working.
Are we in a recession?

Perhaps. Maybe. Hard to tell.

The Sahm Rule focuses on the 3-month average unemployment rate, and asking if it's risen half a point above its year-long low.

The low was 4.0% in January.

The latest (average of Sept & Nov, with Oct missing): 4.5%.

That's +0.5%.
