Admin: In appendix k there was a request for $500k for warming centre funding. we recieved word from the province that we received $800k enhancement for warming centres that will allow for increase in spaces in those centres. #yqrcc

Froh: I suggest that in 2027 we start small annual increments to the Community Investment Grants Program. Will not affect mill rate this year but this is a 2 year budget process. We can always say next year if financial situation doesn't allow this. #yqrcc

So for shitz and giggles, let's say that's the only decrease we get to the mill rate. So 15.52% rather than 15.69% - in real money, that's a "saving" of 63cents a month. But for that saving, I have to spend an extra $6 on bus fare?

I got lost in the first hour of the Council meeting this morning, and now don't think I can catch up.
I also had some shitty stuff at work come up and it took me an hour to walk to the post office, so I don't think I can cope with more bad news. #yqrcc

If council was actually listening to delegations, their direction should be obvious: Don't cut stuff. The overwhelming message from folks over the last two days was that services — like transit, like community grants — need to be protected. A few delegates even said they want the full 15%+ /2 #yqrcc

Two days of council meeting has been exhausting - and most of it i was just following along online anyway. But one truly heartening thing to come out of it is the knowledge that even in bleak and stupid times there are always good people to be found in the mix too.
For the first time in my life, met an online person in real life hahaha 😆

Two days of council meeting has been exhausting - and most of it i was just following along online anyway. But one truly heartening thing to come out of it is the knowledge that even in bleak and stupid times there are always good people to be found in the mix too.

Oh… by the way… the reason I enjoyed today's council meeting… it was AWESOME to see so many people come out to say "City stuff rules! This Regina thing is awesome! Don't cut this thing b/c it makes lives better!"
