Also at Boolcoomatta, I saw this stand-off.
Ultimately, they each went on their way. Nobody was hurt.

In Australia's tinpot civil society, 'power speech' is on the cusp of defeating free speech
Free speech in Australia is under attack from multiple directions. And its assailant is power speech: the right of the powerful to dictate terms to and attack those with less power.

I can not find any record of the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions bringing a case against a person advocating genocide. There is that time Uncle Robbie Thorpe brought a private prosecution against Mark Regev. The CDPP took it over and dropped it.

Good on Dr Randa Abdel-Fattah.

A Premier publicly likening an academic to far-right terrorists is indefensible.
He should retract the comments, apologise, and resign.

The Adelaide Writers' Week imbroglio shows how corporate interests are threatening to push Australian storytellers out of the Australian story, writes Christopher Warren.
In Dunstan’s Adelaide, the city’s elites are pushing writers out of the Australian story
By abandoning the hands-off restraint that 1970s Premier Dunstan brought to Adelaide and that Gough Whitlam made national through the Australia Council, the Writers' Week imbroglio threatens to push Australian storytellers out of the Australian story.

Albo's #hatespeech laws incl. an exception: quoting religious texts for teaching.

So, Australian Zionists could quote 1 Samuel 15:3 👇 to justify the murder of Palestinian men, women, children and babies. Israeli PM Netanyahu did exactly this, saying Palestinians were Amalek. #auspol #religion

The Adelaide Festival board PR release paraphrased:
We don't understand
-writers
-books
-festivals
-the arts
-audience
-what our job is
-how to resist interference
-the gravity of our mistake
-how to apologise.
So we've obliterated Writers' Week & left the whole Adelaide Festival boardless, byeeee.
