Getting people to work should not be a jobs program
One thing the mayor-elect could do between now and January 1 is to call on Kathy Hochul to veto the bill on her desk that would ban one-person train operations in the NYC subway. Mamdani was absent the day of the vote, and banning OPTO is incompatible with lower cost (or free) transit.

Can we also stop with the whole "No Farmers No Food" narrative, which I think a lot of "rural America is pure and wholesome" springs from? Industrial farms make our economy possible but so do the people who make sure our kitchen appliances don't catch on fire.
It’s because it is socially acceptable to hate cities and the people who live in them, and even virtuous to do so. Urbanites themselves are expected to perform this self-hating virtue. If they do not, this proves that they are snobs who deserve things like being shat on from the sky by a mad king.
A lot of centrist commentators who genuinely got worked up about the unforgivably insulting nature of "cling to guns and religion" or "basket of deplorables" are weirdly silent about Trump portraying himself as literally shitting on American cities
