In a similar vein I think this is why Fantasy stories about an underdog hero rising up and overthrowing a seemingly all-powerful BBEG appeals to so many people.
It's no mystery why so many trauma survivors, myself included, loved mystery stories & novels growing up. A world where clues are discoverable & lead to insights that matter, where things are figure-outable if you paid enough attention-- we really wanted to exist in that world.
