Absolutely insane that “to deter Trump from attacking” gets sanewashed as “to ease Trump’s security fears”

When will our so called leaders wake up to the fact that mothers and grandmothers are willing to kill and die for what is right?

And more seriously, where are the primary challengers?

genuinely fascinating to me that even after an american is executed in the street by the state your instinct is not to condemn and discuss this on its own terms but to use it as fodder for abstraction and discourse policing
It’s not even so much about “sane” vs. “insane” anymore, as it so often was circa 2020. The fundamental split today is between the *decent* and the *indecent.* It is monstrous to desire, excuse, sanitize, whitewash avoidable killing even of one’s perceived foes.

This is insane. Brooks says everyone is too blinded by ideology to see the truth of what the video shows. Then the host asks him what it shows and he refuses to answer.

“Left and right are equally to blame for everything all the time” is also an ideology!
sounds like david f’ing brooks

Constant prompting can habituate users to follow the AI’s lead. In high-stakes environments (medical, legal, or technical), this "automation bias" can lead to people accepting AI suggestions without verification.

Its important that the "alignment" question gets reframed as "Alignment to who exactly?" and also ensuring that people are taught the safe ways of operation for AI. The part in commercial AI where it asks you a leading question in bold at the end of the turn? Thats actually very dangerous lol.

And by the way, if the actual problem is that the Minneapolis PD refuses to do its job, we're in a better place if that's made explicit as well. It will have no effect on the issuance of the warrant and the mayor can deputize civilians to serve it.

Right, go through the process and make them defy it. Issue the arrest warrant and demand he turn himself in. If he refuses, try to arrest him. If they give him a 24/7 guard, have the standoff. If they have them leave the state, that's a win! He'll never be able to work a blue state again.
To be honest, though, the city should force them to make this explicit. Show up with an arrest warrant and then have them brandish their guns and refuse to accept it, like the criminal gang they are.
"The question that you're basically asking is, can our cops arrest them? From a legal perspective, yes. From a practical perspective...they have bigger guns than we do." That's where we're at.

If you really believe in freedom and democracy then on some level you need to be willing to kill for them (as a last resort). If you aren't, then you don't actually value them the way you think you do.
We killed thousands upon thousands of people in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and WW2 and history fully vindicated us.

I’m not saying we need to kill but squeamish liberals need to find a spine, accept that we are in a history-defining moment that requires severity, and act accordingly.
We are surrounded by liberals who truly believe fascist narratives about their weakness and unpopularity.

They really don't have enough guys. But they do have enough guys if every liberal's mental model of politics is that the moment we resist they'll just manifest another million guys into existence and kill us all
They don’t have the juice or manpower for it. This is not late 1930s Germany. There is no state monopoly on media. They are wildly unpopular.
The goal here is martial law. It’s martial law. Let’s be clear about that.

Neither of those are contradictory and also it’s okay to update your beliefs to new information.
One weird thing is how up until yesterday people on here were like “midwestern democrats are fighters and the model for how to govern with slim majorities” and today it’s like “midwestern democrats are simply cowards with no ability or inclination to fight.”
