I don’t know how to say this without sounding harsh, but I need you to hear it. COVID — or SARS-2 — is not “just another cold.” It doesn’t leave you the same. Every reinfection stacks damage: brain, heart, immune system.

One of my neurodivergent traits is that I come up with a lame joke that requires thinking in 4 dimensions to get, and I lean in with a huge grin and wait to see if anyone else gets the joke, vibrating with excitement. (this includes online jokes, somehow)

Not to be the fun police but I do hope people know that Arc Raiders does use generative AI for voice acting, and by supporting the game you're letting higher-ups know that this is an okay practice.

They try to downplay this on the Steam store page by describing the AI usage as vaguely as possible.

Every word of this article is true. And I challenge you to read it.
All of this is very much the fault of our leaders, who have decided the political ramifications of "normalcy" are more important than the health and lives of the 400 million people living with long COVID across the globe, the immunocompromised folks who are increasingly being shut out of every conceivable public space, and the disabled community which has been screaming into the wind about our marginalization since before the virus even hit US soil. But I want to be very clear. You are helping them do this.

Acting is living truthfully in imaginary circumstances. Making yourself the product is…living inauthentically in reality.

A lot of folk are at least tangentially aware that most breeders mixing mutations to create hybrids are misguided at best, and usually fairly unethical, but how many of you were aware about dominant blue eye in cats ALSO being a sign of crossbreeding for looks rather than health?

Shame is one of the hardest things about ADHD for me. I'm back and the book is finished but instead of feeling proud, I feel ashamed for not having managed to stay active, manage my household better or even shower regularly.

Look at everything you’ve been through. It makes sense that you’re the way you are. Let’s try our best. Not to get it right for others, but to finally get to know how WE do things.” “At the very least, I can have my own back.”

it isn’t hard to say “at the height of the pandemic” or “at the start of COVID” during a podcast interview. Producers, hosts, don’t let your guests say “during COVID” like this thing is over. Correct them. Ask them to say the sentence again. This is your job.

With the exception of transcription tools – which good lord you DEFINITELY still need to edit and reread and listen to as a fact check – AI has no place in journalism. None. If our job is to tell the truth and spread knowledge, then our words need to be ours and our fact-checkers need to be humans.

In retrospect, Highlights magazine prepared me well for our present AI slop hellscape, because it gave me extensive experience in finding all the little hallucination fuckups in a picture
