LA: “They took a US citizen father out and left a toddler in the backseat. Two heavily armed border patrol agents got in that car and drove the child and the vehicle away.”

A busy first day as your Mayor-elect: early morning interviews, transition announcements and meetings. More to say on all of it tomorrow.

But a highlight was lunch with my Congresswoman @aoc.bsky.social at Laliguras Bistro in Jackson Heights.

Congratulations to all the Democratic candidates who won tonight. It’s a reminder that when we come together around strong, forward-looking leaders who care about the issues that matter, we can win. We’ve still got plenty of work to do, but the future looks a little bit brighter.

NEW: Footage of a US citizen in Chicago being rammed then dragged from her car on her way to work.

Abducted, with no warrant, her family couldn’t find her for hours.

She was later released with NO CHARGE.

A DHS statement said she “violently resisted arrest, injuring two officers”.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.
This thread is hilarious. I've spent the last 15 years in Boston. Close to the harbour, a jacket and a scarf. Out in southern Massachusetts - a thick sweater and a scarf. But a COAT at 57?! Nah
As a Detroiter, 57°? I'm probably not even wearing a jacket 🌚🤣
I love how location tells you how people acclimate to the weather. In Detroit I'm wearing shorts in 57 degrees 😂

As SNAP hangs in the balance for nearly 42 million people, misinformation is rampant. Myths of laziness and fraud persist when we should be talking about too low wages for workers, income inequality, and our threadbare social safety net.

In this guest post, Adam Chandler sorts fact from fiction:
SNAP benefits feed essential needs while still leaving many hungry for more
Journalist and author Adam Chandler explains what so much of the conversation about them gets wrong.

Welcome, Gen Z, to the hollow articles we Millennials suffered, telling us to stop buying coffee if we wanted to afford a house. For fucks sake, the consumer is not the problem when the economy crashes and suddenly suffers amnesia.
“At the same time, more than half of Gen Z members say they are struggling to make ends meet, yet a majority buy themselves a small treat, such as a pastry, coffee, or sweet, at least once a week. That can lead to overspending…”

I’m not being a doomer, I swear, but this country still has never had a truth and reconciliation commission for slavery.
The fantasies of every ICE agent facing some sort of (severe!) justice tribunal are shocking to me. People speak about it so confidently, like it's something that will magically, inevitably occur... Can you point to a clear precedent in *this country's* history? I only know of the myriad opposites
