the responses could tell the post was a troll but everyone still went out of their way to defend the credit score system. and none of them included the only real reason for it that makes sense: it was first implemented bc bankers were literally just making on the spot judgement calls for loans etc

honestly for a fast primer the wiki page on credit scores is a good summary, talks about creation of FICO and how it evolved from a thing that just covered biz to a full on consumer rating system

they're a total indulgence but a friend helped me buy one ages ago. it's an old model, no computer or point counting, HUGE, just shuffles. but it's a bit of fun. i thought i wouldn't get use out of it but i was wrong, esp now that way more ppl play!
