happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.

Bon Iver is releasing a live version of "Naeem (Can't You Hear Crying)", now only on Bandcamp. 100% of proceeds will be donated to the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota. Join in to support those organizing, protecting, and sheltering against ICE in the state.

I love the US. But if I were not American, I would not set foot in the US now.

As long as Stephen Miller is in power, the US cannot plausibly host international sporting events. (And all the *foreigners* they would bring.)
The Montreal Canadiens are playing the Minnesota Wild in Minneapolis tonight. The players have been recommended to stay in/eat at the hotel, take the team bus to the arena, and carry passports.

Perhaps we shouldn't be hosting the World Cup and the Olympics...

You really hate to see it.
A noteworthy takeaway from tonight's Texas result is that the Republicans spent a metric truckload of money on this race. They spent millions more than the Democrats. The loss itself aside, this is a gigantic, flashing warning sign for the GOP's finances.

This was only about two time-lapsed minutes of the Alex Pretti memorial ride in Minneapolis today. I'd guess there were at least 5x more people there than this, and probably significantly more than that. Absolutely mind blowing love and support showing up on bikes today.

Can the civic collaboration which is the Minneapolis resistance to fascist thugs morph into a broader longer-lasting commitment to mutual aid and enthusiasm for civic involvement? Would that not be fantastic? What is stopping us? Fuck corporations. Fuck billionaires. Fuck social media stupor. 🤞
The more I watch this from Hannah Spencer, two things happen:
1. The more I like it and her.
2. The more it makes me want to get out and do what she says by volunteering.
... I'm surprisingly moved by 2, as I can physically feel it breaking through the armour of scepticism I've built around myself.

In Printz v. United States, #SCOTUS held that the Constitution bars the federal government from forcing or otherwise compelling local or state governments to enforce federal law.

The liberal squish who wrote the majority opinion in that case? Justice Antonin Scalia:

This development would've been extraordinary, especially coming from Chief Judge Schiltz, even *before* last week's contretemps over DOJ's (now-dropped) attempt to strong-arm him into signing arrest warrants for the other five Cities Church protestors.

Schiltz isn't just talking about *this* case.
👀 Judge Schlitz, the chief federal judge in Minnesota, has ordered the head of ICE, Todd Lyons, to appeal personally in court Friday and threatened him with contempt for the agency’s repeated violation of court orders.

Minnesota's state FBI-like bureau is suing Noem. It says before pre-emptively declaring the killing righteous and abandoning the crime scene, feds took exclusive custody of evidence, including "apparently seized cellphones."

MN asserts a sovereign right to investigate crimes within its borders.

It’s hard to accurately describe what is happening in Minneapolis without sounding crazy.

Unmarked rental vans all over the city, with people in military gear and no id jumping out of them to take captive anyone who looks nonwhite or who makes political speech they disagree with.
