Any typos spotted today have a book launch celebration on this evening and are doing their best living room flail. If typos spotted, maybe remind them not to eat all the mixed lollies* they've brought for the occasion before the actual event. That would not be smart. (Although they really want to.)

Quite literally it's only the 'xmas rush' that is keeping 5 business I know solvent.

4 of the 5 Dunedin retailers I know personally are expecting to close in the new year.

It's so fucking dire out there, but hey nice culture & race war

If any other political party pulled what Nats have on Kiwisaver this week and the comments on the regulatory standards bill, they would have been raked over the coals given their history. No one would have made it out alive from the news cycle.

A calm night in Kyiv.
There’s power at home.

Living one day at a time lets me truly enjoy this moment.
Tomorrow will be another day.
I’m just grateful for this one.

Q: So… do you mean to say that the new curriculum’s bizarre boner for teaching 8-year-olds the “Western” canon might be because it’s being cribbed from the pseudoscientific, religious Trivium Method, stealthed in by a guy who also sits on the board of a Trivium Method charter school?

A: Yes.

Do you know about the importance of hoplites?

Of course you do. Everyone knows the importance of hoplites.

Do you (be honest this time) know what hoplites *are?*

No, you probably didn’t. (1/25)

Greetings from Kyiv,
where the night was calm.

I’m having a warcoffee after the workout.
Today I asked where the cups with flowers are (maybe you remember them).
‘Oh, the production was damaged during one of the attacks,’ they said.

again, any other government doing this would not have had a moments rest from nz media, their public lives made almost impossible and been hounded out of government

this coalition is being given the most cover and support, maybe in nz history, by media and institutions
I do not know off the top of head what is in the oath an incoming government makes to the Governor General, but it seems like passing legislation you actually think is bad should be some kind of breach of it

A work by British artist Banksy – created just after Kyiv region was de-occupied and later nearly stolen in Hostomel – is now kept in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.

Next to it is an 11th-century graffiti caricature from the Dormition Cathedral.

I can’t help but wonder how much better off kiwis would be by now, if we hadn’t elected a govt more interested in supporting foreign oil/gas company profit margins over the public good. 🤨🙄 #nzpol
