This is a really cool paper. It shows that role models can influence how people think about college majors & working in government. But it also shows that effects fade over over time which should constrain our expectations about how one shot interventions like training actually can change behavior.

This: In the same week that Vance expressed concern that France and the United Kingdom had nuclear weapons, he said Denmark was not a very good ally to the US. It is shameful.

Good morning. A coda (from me) on this replication business.

While I understand the impulse, it is disheartening that most of the discussion generated by this replication is about the replication "process" -- both the APSR's process and my own process.

What could we be talking about instead?

I have now read the response by Turnbull-Dugarte and López Ortega again with a clearer eye.

Multiple claims in this response are untrue or seek to obscure the truth.

My interest has always been the accuracy of the scientific record, so I feel compelled to note some of these claims here.
A critique of our (w/ @bertous.bsky.social) paper “Instrumentally inclusive” has just been published.

Our response is under review (see below on process) but we feel obliged to share our draft for balance since the comment has been released without the response.

incredible that we can turn correcting coding errors into litigation about the process in which we are allowed to transmit this information
Very unprofessional of the APSR to publish a response to a published article without publishing the original authors' reaction. "They will be published in the same issue." So we see them together when we get our hardcopy in the mail and flip through it on a Sunday afternoon?

We have now published our 6th book on the state of Danish democracy, this time focusing on the government: unipress.dk/media/ohvdt3...

Based on the largest survey of gov bureaucrats in Danish history, conclusions are overall positive.

But some findings show deeper systemic problems 👇
