Today I traveled back from attending the annual NSBP-NSHP meeting (wonderful, as always, with excellent astro talks). Started the trip watching sunrise over the beautiful, foggy Bay Area. Ended with the beginning of sunset over Lake Michigan 🤩😍🌞

As a white woman in science, I do/don’t fit in the status quo. The experience described here sounds like my experience attending NSBP-NSHP over the years: the wonderful sense of community and mutual celebration that is intentionally part of those events (and mostly absent from status quo ones)

PSA as more of us put on wool coats (or similar): you know that X of thread, holding the flap(s) at the back of your coat closed? Those are to keep the garment tidy before sale. You are meant to snip it so that the flap(s) can function correctly when worn. (Can also apply to: blazers, skirts, etc)
