One is in prep for the ablation. The other is for kidneys. They require different positioning and seemingly different dyes - which becomes problematic on the kidney and can interfere with one another. Plus the radiation exposure isn't great.

Again, this doesn't fix the systemic issues. It's a bandaid fix. But sitting on your hands waiting for the perfect solution to materialize is absurd. I'd rather patch things up with spit and baling wire until we have the leverage for real change.

Someone like Trump could never pass the test in the first place, and assuming the GOP refused to adopt this, but the Democrats did - the Dems have a major talking point - what are Republicans afraid of with such an easy test?

You put the test in the hands of a Board of Civics certification which is comprised of academic political scientists and community leaders unaffiliated with Party insides.

That civics test then becomes a point of regulation - no candidate could run as [Party] without proving to that Party they know civics fundamentals. The lack of a test is now a campaign weakness. And you're not messing with the letter of the law on accessibility to office.

All that Party has to say is: no candidate can run as [Party] without passing a standardized civics test, the results of which would be on public record.

Is it a low bar? Sure. But the test itself isn't the litmus - rather it is the willingness of the candidate to TAKE it, or the Party to adopt it

So, I was trying to think of ways to prevent the next Donald Trump without requiring an amendment (which might as well be wishing for Santa clause to fix something).

The weak link is, actually, our dependence on a 2-Party system, and all you need is one Party to agree to it. It's simple:
