At some point people need to recognize that whatever peril we're all in is a *choice* made by our elected officials. Trump openly attempted a violent armed coup, and *four years later* isn't dead or in jail, he's basically even odds to be president
Imo the thing about LLMs that a lot of people are missing is that the goal isn't, like, *better* medical diagnoses. The goal is generating plausible *seeming* output whose underlying mechanisms are so obfuscated, and at such a volume, that regulatory & liability constraints on profits are impossible
When chatbots are given complete information on medical conditions, they typically spit out correct diagnoses and recommendations.
Actual patients, however, often describe their conditions with incomplete or irrelevant information and the chatbots cannot handle it.

The flip side of this is that “just a ballot line” also means “just a network of money and patronage flows, but no party line” which means once you get someone in, it’s really hard to have any kind of leverage over them and they don’t really need you anymore
