My native garden brings me peace in a chaotic world.
Which is why I’m seriously considering my voting options ... Albo’s back pedalling and lack of policy direction on climate & environment has me seriously questioning my support for the ALP in the House of Reps. The Senate is another matter altogether.
We got to the end of election campaign with NO discussion of climate crisis; no discussion of electoral reform; no discussion of science and environment. #auspol

First time I’ve purchased the West in a long time. Thought I’d check out what the Stokes minions had to say about the Federal Election. Just the usual tripe… amazing that they still haven’t registered that as a State we tanked the LNP at the 3 previous state elections #auspol

Academics & others need to understand a few things.

A 🧵

I) First, fascism is not inevitable.

Research on autocratic movements show that only about 3,5% of the population need to resist to stop them.

Fascism thrives on the silence of the friends.
That why visible resistance matters.

In addition to going through the website, I strongly encourage people to read the letter from Harvard's President, Dr. Garber.

We need more scientific institutions to show this level of courage, no matter the risk. In fact, we need *all* institutions to stand up*.

Well said.
Autism didn’t make them do it. Mental illness didn’t, either. This personal piece from The Big Picture cuts through the excuses and names the real issue: some people are just hateful, and we need to stop giving them cover.
Neither Neurodivergence Nor Mental Illness Made Them Bigots—They're Just Awful People
It's hard to admit your heroes are jerks, but the mentally ill and neurodivergent shouldn't be collateral damage.

I agree. POTUS tanks the stock market, encourages his sycophants to buy up 3 hours before he reduces tariffs. The world has gone mad.
Imagine that. Is there any doubt in anyone’s mind they were tipped off?

They are laughing at us all.

Australia is in an extinction crisis – why isn’t it an issue at this election?

It’s about time the media covered the appalling lack of environmental policy and commitment from the ALP this election #auspol #australianwildlife

Psychologist Gustave Gilbert, who interviewed Nazi leaders during the Nuremberg trials, said… a definition of the nature of evil: “It’s the one characteristic that connects all the defendants,” he said. “A genuine incapacity to feel with their fellow man. Evil, I think, is the absence of empathy.”

Some parents can't deal with having kids that are “different”. Then emotionally abandon & reject their children. They have limited capacity to reflect on their behaviour or adapt their parenting style to suit the needs of their children. It’s heartbreaking. They have no idea #disability #autism

The WA government giving $70,000 to support endangered black-cockatoos in care seems great
But without both a full stop to habitat destruction AND some serious urban forest restoration this money will make 0 difference in the long term.
