Interesting that #senryu often dealt with tropes. I’m rather familiar with the tropes of cinema, so that might be interesting to explore in poetic form.

That's a good way to put it: smells of humanity. Plenty of haiku focus on human activity and nearly all include the poet and emotions, but the, for lack of a better word, scent of the poem is not just mankind.

I tend to agree with you on that. I think that the only reason I might (strong might!) put it in haiku is the spring/summer feeling of The Green Man. But that is a tenuous link at best, I admit.
