December has begun which means it’s time for the last comp of the year.

This month the theme is…that’s not very Christmassy.

Your mission is to make a non-holiday mini, holiday themed.

Rules on skeet 2

The Trump administration cut funding to address AIDS, and refused to commemorate World AIDS Day. That only makes it more important for us to remember loved ones we have lost to this disease. We love them still. We remember them still. And that matters.
My Uncle Jimmy was infected in first wave of HIV/AIDS in the 80s. I was just a kid. I can barely remember him. He was fun, and funny, and played honky tonk piano. He was a Vietnam vet. He bought me LEGOs. :) I can remember his laugh.

I miss him.

First day back from Thanksgiving Break, 14 school days until Winter Break, and the district sends me to an all-day training.
Really sheltering student learning and instructional time, eh?

After a bit of a recovery lull from the convention, helped Kid1 build some scarab occult terminators. Mostly, I did the sharp parts - he did all the gluing and posing and came up with a theme. They worship a powerful dark entity called “the Void”, so they have void instead of heads. #nerdlings #40k

Thanksgiving leftover lunch burrito, @scalzi.com style. Flour tortilla with potatoes, leeks, cheese, mushrooms, turkey, stuffing, kung pao Brussels sprouts, and jalapeño pineapple cranberry sauce. It was awesome.

We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

At the dentist for a crown. So, of course, listening to this while I’m sitting in the chair waiting.

“Austin Powers” over “The Birdcage”? I know these lists are just written to make people mad and argue over them, but COME ON!
The movie listed at #1 is so incredibly misplaced that it calls into question the veracity of the entire list. It belongs on the list, yes, but SO MUCH further down. An absolute, credibility-wrecking flub. Boo, @variety.com! Boo!

High school teacher here, and yeah, if the boys (in general) at other schools are like the ones in the school where I teach, I can’t blame them. Honestly, the LGBT couples I know seem way happier in general than the straight ones.
12th grade girls are now less likely to say they want to get married someday

I made a thing! It works well - just have to snap off the rattle ball with a screwdriver and it prints with no supports. A modification of a design I found on Thingiverse. I’ll post a link to the .stl file later.

Opted out, but wow, that turns off a lot of features that existed way before the AI garbage, like spell-check.

Is it happening? Is today the day this stupid AI bubble finally bursts?

Saw some gig posters using Ai and that’s no good. Gig posters are a lot of artists first gig, they’re fucking with the ecosystem of students getting £20 so I’m making stickers because thermal label printers are our cheapest propaganda tool
