i used to be very opposed to the binding of isaac tbh. took actually spending time watching a fan play the game and talk about it for me to be able to see past the loud, aesthetically offensive veneer and see the actual story. so i totally understand why people assume the worst abt mewgenics

although i will concede that mcmillen is once again making poor taste decisions in this game. i think his heart is in the right place generally. his art is like if the south park ppl had a soul and actually stood for something lmao

and tbh i think ppl should finish the game before making any actual statements on it. right now, ppl are judging it based on their automatic disgust reaction. understandable, but something being gross, ugly or talking about taboo subjects doesn't automatically mean it's evil and bad.

if you actually played his games or watched a fan play, you'll know his games make *you* the biggest fool 9 times out of 10. his games are absurd, juvenile and uncomfortably upfront about reality. i haven't seen the full story of mewgenics yet, so I can't judge it fully

there's many elements of other games in it. we get a touch of stardew valley and animal crossing, a little bit of pokemon, a bit of final fantasy tactics and fire emblem all in the format of his prev game, the binding of isaac. mcmillen's trickster nature is what makes it unique, though.

lotta ppl getting big mad about mewgenics. people are again judging it based on the surface level. mcmillen isn't evil; the game isn't promoting eugenics and from what i've observed of it it's not "anti woke". it's a complicated turn-based rpg/breeding sim that is honest abt what a breeding sim is.
