It used to be nearly ubiquitous that people had bathroom reading in their homes. It was always interesting to see what someone's bathroom reading was. Books were published specifically to be read on the toilet.

My oldest learned to make seed bead bracelets and so he made one with anarchy symbols. Which is maybe the most hippy homeschooled teenager thing I've ever seen.

This is why centrists conceding to the "reasonable concerns" of fascists is always a bad idea. You don't let vampires into your house because it's cold out.

The fact that "mental gymnastics" are supposed to be a bad thing, rather than a sign of intense training to develop flexibility, strength, and skill is really weird.

There really needs to be laws requiring transparency in commercially available AI system prompts and requiring the inclusion of something like Asimov's Laws of Robotics in all system prompts.

We're not going to be able to defeat fascism without defeating oligarchy.
Gov. @gavinnewsom says he disagrees with Mayor @zohrankmamdani about the need for a wealth tax on billionaires, which he is “adamantly against” - says Dems are a “big tent party” with both views.

The way the word "ceasefire" has been redefined to mean "continued war" is down right orwellian.

Q: Are you affirming that you think President Trump is a fascist?

MAMDANI: I've spoken about--

TRUMP: That's okay. You can just say yes. I don't mind.

The person who got my grandma into hiding and saved her life was a 15-year-old girl. She had a job in the factory where my grandma worked and was using the job as a front to rescue Jews employed there. She was a normal, working-class Dutch gentile teenager. There are ways you can be like her.

There is only one possible interpretation that what's happened in Gaza has resulted in something "very close to being perfected": Genocide.

The only other way a reasonable person could interpret this is that he's totally lost his mind and has no idea what's going on.
Trump: "Gaza -- while it looks a little bit messy, it has for many many years, decades, but it's getting very close to being perfected."

Yesterday on BlueSky, Marceline Leiman asked a great question. Using only one or two extremely vague words, how would I describe the titles on offer at this year’s Indie Games Night Market? N…

Remember how Trump said ICE targets “violent criminals?”

Trump’s own DOJ now reports that ONLY 2.5% of the people ICE arrested in Chicago have any criminal history.

That means 97.5% have ZERO criminal record. They were targeted because they were of Latino ethnicity. This is what fascism looks like

It's only a matter of time before a researcher builds an LLM out of mycelium, and once that's done, some enterprising person is going to figure out how to plant it in the ground.

Remember the recent middle-of-the-night apartment building raid where children were dragged outside naked & zip-tied in the street while black & Latino residents were _sorted by race_ and piled into separate vans while their apartments were ransacked & robbed? That raid? So it resulted in 0 arrests.

This post and the responses to it are important for cis folks to read and sit with.
A lot of well meaning cis allies will still be under the impression that your average trans girl grew up just like the boys around her. I don't think many actually understand just how frequently people picked up on how we are different and considered hurting as a victimless action
