Keep more of my money?
Cut out insurance companies?

Didn’t have the president pegged as a single-payer guy, but I guess after that Mamdani meeting anything is possible.
Bessent on CNBC re: White House health care plans: "I'm not involved in the conversation. I know President Trump wants working Americans to keep more of their money, cut out the insurance companies, and we'll see. He's the president of solutions, and I'm sure that we will have a solution to this."

Made this for dinner tonight, and it is money. Only enhancement was adding some white wine to the sauce.

One of the foundational problems with AI is that something that is a helpful tool in certain circumstances (like quickly summarizing a lot of info) has been marketed as actual intelligence that people can outsource things like emotional therapy to. Clippy should be no one’s therapist.
Yesterday my partner and I counted all the ads along Chicago's Brown Line for "Friend," a company selling an AI chatbot pendant, and tallied how many of those ads were defaced.

Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.

It’s exhausting reading descriptions of RFK’s actions as “reshaping public health,” or taking an “unorthodox approach.” He’s just killing people. Whether out of cruelty, deliberate ignorance, or some deeper psychological problems, he’s killing people.
Just an absolutely gutting essay by Tatiana Schlossberg, a writer, mother of two young children, and cousin of RFK Jr who is dying of leukemia.

Give Mamdani another 10 minutes with him and Trump will become a staunch land value tax guy.

I think one of the reasons people react so negatively to AI is that it so often comes off as just creepy.

NEW: The Court has ruled that the National Guard deployment to DC is illegal and granted a preliminary injunction.

As we made clear from the beginning: the US military should not be policing American citizens on American soil.

This is a victory for DC, Home Rule, and American democracy.

The House action yesterday is an affront to democracy, undermines the voice and vote of 700,000 U.S. citizens and legal residents, and threatens public safety in the District with counterproductive measures.

My message to Congress: Hands Off D.C.

As a District resident, it’s really hard to articulate just how morally offensive this is.
These 20 House Democrats just joined Republicans in voting to fully repeal DC's police reform laws.

Wiping off the books critical laws on use of force, transparency, and preventing violent cops from getting rehired.

They think that they should have more say over DC police than the people of DC.

Seven (7) Guard members pointlessly hanging out at a moderately busy U St metro station, as passengers stroll by. Chatting with each other in the corner of the upper platform, serving zero purpose.

This remains the stupidest, most wasteful and offensive thing.

I don’t believe that Bezos tanking his paper’s endorsement of Harris had any material effect on the election, but it has contributed mightily to the spiraling irrelevancy of the WaPost.

The House bill being voted on today to require cash bail in DC is insane.

DC hasn’t had cash bail since 1992, and crime has plummeted since.

Our current system is near identical to federal law.

People should be held pretrial if they pose a safety risk — not because they are too poor to pay bail.

I hurt myself in Ireland, and they helped get me better for no cost.

This person from Ireland needed medical help here, and we threw him in jail.
NEW: An Irish tourist visiting the US was jailed by ICE for 3 months after overstaying 3 days due to medical issue. Thomas agreed to be deported, but instead went to federal prison where he recounted horrific conditions + no medical care.
