Every month, there's a new story about the cynical, predatory nature of the gambling industry.

As with the cigarette industry, when we eventually get round to properly regulating these parasites, we'll be ashamed we took so long to do it.

Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.
SHOCK POLL:
NIGEL FARAGE WILL BE PM TOMORROW
IN an amazing poll conducted
by The Pointless Polling Company, it was revealed that voters' intentions
may well change over the next three and a half years and at present it's 100 percent impossible to guess what the next government might look like.
However, 99 percent of journalists
agree that it would be much more fun if we had an election tomorrow and everybody resigned and everything was chaos and Farage had a go at being PM, just for the hell of it, because it was so much fun when
Brexit happened and then the government kept falling every five minutes and we could write endless pieces about (cont. p94)

You’ll be staggered when you read this great post by TeeDixie👇🏼👌🏼

It shows how effective the media has been, in painting labour as a shit show in Govt, and glossing over how terrible the Tories were
teedixie.bsky.social
I was quite surprised, given the amount of negative press that would have you believe that this government is the worst we’ve had yet.

I’ll put the link in the next post but given we had a complete shit show with the Tories, this is astonishing. Do reshare or bookmark the link, it’s handy.
Under the last Tory Govt, elected in 2019, of 42 Manifesto Pledges, only
2 were delivered in 5 years.
Under the current Labour Govt, elected in 2024, of 83 Manifesto Pledges, 57 are delivered (18), on track (19), or in process (20).
In 1 year.

A surprisingly large number of them think the way to connect with Gen Z is "dress like Sylvester McCoy's Doctor Who."
A screen grab of a Times article. The photograph depicts three men and a woman - according to the caption these are Charles Amos, Rhys Benjamin, Daniel Campbell and Glesni Reece.

Charles is in tweeds and a fedora, Rhys sports a combover and a question mark pullover as worn by the seventh Doctor Who. Daniel wears a blue "Make Britain Great Again" baseball cap. Glesni, unlike the others, is not wearing an outlandish costume, just a black tailored jacket over a white blouse.

Text reads:

Meet the young Tories dreaming of a bright blue future
The Conservatives know they have a problem with Gen Z voters. At the party conference, The Times met a new breed of activists who are embracing the challenge

As welcome as this will be (to some, not all) a real help would be a reduction/removal of VAT and/or duty on draught alcohol.

Badenoch's brain should be studied. Visibly believes that she has put the hours in working while all her policy suggestions are just obviously picked up on Twitter without any critical thought before they end up as policy. Visibly confused as to who was in office 2010 to 2024.

Good to see the Conservative Party committed to keeping the deficit down by *checks notes* spending £2 billion giving tax breaks for private education, creating a massive new deportation force and pledging to maintain pensioner benefits.
