This is how thanksgiving dinner works
The proper time is a floating number between noon and “by weight it should have been done an hour ago…You know, you’re welcome to do it next time since you’re so nosy about when it’s going to be done” o’clock.

Here it is. A sweeping epic adaptation: Kristin Lavransdatter. Would probably require three movies. I'd watch the heck out of this.
Nearly every answer to the OP's question shows a distinct lack of imagination and... I guess that is why we have the movies we have 💁🏻‍♀️

Would love football rule experts to answer this. @sickoscommittee.org do you know the right person?
Something I’ve never thought about until now: what if the ball bounces into the helmet?

@sickoscommittee.org
This NDSU St Thomas game is brutal. They blindside sacked the St Thomas QB so hard his helmet popped off and the ball came out. The defenders were stepping over the bouncing helmet to get to the fumbled ball

Still don't think this would make me interested in basketball, but it's still a good idea
The last 30 seconds of a basketball game feels like forever.

Maybe for every foul committed under a minute, you also lose 5 seconds off the game clock.

Jokes on them when I see who's calling and don't pick up.

Send an email like a normal person
"rather than send another email i thought i'd just call you" that's your problem. you should just get on my level. i am capable of sending what is effectively an infinite number of emails.

Why exactly do the Packers jerseys look like they're the bears this week?

One more reason not to vote for this guy
For the first time in 25 years, Major League Baseball has a repeat champion, and of course it’s California’s own Dodgers.

Congratulations!

I'm just a regular middle American, but after all that Trump's done for the Republican party, the fact that they haven't changed their name to the Trump party sure seems like an insult.

Almost like they aren't willing to be attached to his name for the next five election cycles. Real shame

Getting older-

Tired: This important cultural touchstone is old enough to drink.

Wired: This important cultural touchstone is old enough to enroll in Medicare.

I asked my wife if Nightmare Before Christmas was a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie. Her answer was that it was like the Walmart seasonal section in October.

I made it, now you have to see it

Took me many years to convince my body that it's okay to wake up early enough, but this does indeed free up my afternoon, but not the rest of the morning. Usually lunch time before I get caught up
“If I sign up to teach at 8 in the morning, I’ll have all afternoon to write” was a plan that did unfortunately fail to account for several obligatory hours of post-teaching-sitting-in-the-driveway-and-dissociating.

i should be able to click a button at the beginning of a sports season that says “i’m normal” and i don’t get served any ads for crypto or gambling

So many skulls to tattoo without being a Nazi
Apparently some folks are playing real dumb about skull symbols so let’s play a little game I like to call “Nazi skull or not a Nazi skull”

First up, the Jolly Roger. This is a pirate skull, not a Nazi skull. It means you might get robbed, but prolly not genocided.

With me so far? 1/x

I think I'm turning into Statute of limitations! guy. Every time they commit a crime I want to check to see if they can be indicted in 2028.
October 23, 2025 at 2:36 AM
Statute of limitations!
I feel like people are sort of sleeping on the US Attorney for EDVA clarifying—to a reporter!—that she did indeed intentionally violate the Federal Records Act by setting the Signal messages to auto-delete

Took me too long to recognize the voice of Reagan denouncing tariffs. Maybe Ontario was trying to make me feel young?

The Great Gatsby is the better book, but Tender is the Night is the better story

Those kids were in their single digits when Obama was president. They probably have no idea what he's talking about. But that's probably true of most of his speeches
Trump tries to goad the Navy into booing "Barack Hussein Obama" but is met mostly with silence

Every night my brain plays a game: can I wake up exactly when the alarm goes off?

It is not good at this game.

Is it 6:02? No it's 3:37
Is it 6:02? No it's 3:52
Is it 6:02? No it's 5:17
Is it 6:02? No it's 5:51

Aaah why is the alarm going off, I'm not ready to wake up!

Hope some higher ups in California see this thread
There's no supremacy clause problem with state bribery laws encompassing payment of bribes to federal officials, and California's statute does, it's not limited to state government bribes. They can and should open a criminal investigation. Not wait for some future DOJ, do a state one right now.
Another craven act of surrender by Big Tech. There is exactly zero merit to this lawsuit. For Google to pay Trump off adds it to the long list of companies that have decided to be complicit in his attack on free speech

Strong agree with this thread
👇🎯 These people will never stop trying to get rich by telling everyone they can learn & teach w/o doing the actual hard work of learning & teaching. They peddle fake alternatives to the hard daily grind of education because they're greedy & lazy. They're charlatans, & we should treat them as such.
Folks, the way to read the NYT article about OpenAI and higher education is to recognize that the person OpenAI hired to lead their effort came from Coursera. Remember when Coursera and MOOCs were going to cause the reinvention of higher education?
