I’m very far left and I think AI is incredible tech, which is why it’s extra depressing to watch its current horrorshow incarnations play out under capitalism.

Cool, when my Jewish atheist ancestors immigrated here they were fleeing from the same kind of fascists you’re now enabling and who will happily put us all against the wall together so cool fake story you quisling fuckwit.
The Rubio speech really is appalling, and if you haven’t read it yet, you should.

This is somehow simultaneously the gayest thing and the straightest thing I’ve ever seen. This has to defy some law of logic or metaphysics in a publishable way.
Who's up for an official U.S. government video showing RFK Jr. working out with Kid Rock and doing a cold water plunge in jeans

Dude fell for a classic enlightening round question. I’ve had so many guests get hung up on “are aliens real or not real?”.
Former president Barack Obama appeared to drop an otherworldly bombshell: extraterrestrials exist.

Obama largely walked back his remarks, suggesting that he was offering a pithy response and that he was simply performing cosmic math. https://wapo.st/4rmz1PA

New ring of parasocial hell just dropped.
NEW: ChatGPT and other chatbots are feeding users' fixations on real people, reinforcing users' delusional ideas and obsessions about others as they descend into unwanted harassment, stalking, and/or domestic abuse — traumatizing victims and profoundly altering lives.

BROKE: debating deontological vs consequentialism implications of voter behavior

WOKE: debating deontology itself vs consequentialism itself

BESPOKE: virtue ethics
Every four years we debate the deontological versus consequentialist moral implications of voter behavior :)

New episode of ETV out for everyone! I'm joined by Alex Guerrero to talk about Lottocracies and what sort of alternative they present to democracies. If you're at all interested in this and have detail questions I highly recommend his book, it really covers a ton of fine grained issues. Enjoy!

This is the most neoliberal thing I’ve ever seen.
Hillary Clinton: "More people were deported under my husband and Barack Obama without killing American citizens and without putting children into detention camps than were in the first Trump term or this first year of Trump's second term."

Every time I debated anti-trans activists, I always asked how this doesn’t result in enforcing traditional gender norms. Not a single one ever gave me a good answer.
Very much in keeping with how Davies-Arai argues against "affirmation policies in schools." It's not clear how they'd be able to implement this without aggressively enforcing traditionalist expectations, where not conforming is perceived as a precursor to (or even as amounting to) social transition.

My antiwoke grifter block list remains undefeated.
this feels like a Roger Bannister four minute mile moment for "reactionary centrism". a level of reactionary centrism doctors (of political science) assured us was impossible but that training, dedication, ingenuity, and the Indomitable human spirit were determined to overcome
Physically incapable of analyzing politics outside of this insipid frame.

Teachers shouldn’t be AI cops. We should fix the system so it’s not necessary.

Going to be recording on this and how reactionary conspirituality was always present in the hippie movement of the 60s and 70s with @etvpod.bsky.social next week.

What I’m learning so far from peer review is that my claims about the pervasiveness of luck and its implications are simultaneously obviously true, incomprehensible, and dangerously insane. If not for my years of Discordian training I would have already become the Joker. 🙃

The future of the GOP is overt inceldom.
Fuentes, yesterday: “Our #1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned. They are the ones that are hurting the fertility rate. They're the ones making us sympathetic to poor people, which are also brown people.”
