What I’m learning so far from peer review is that my claims about the pervasiveness of luck and its implications are simultaneously obviously true, incomprehensible, and dangerously insane. If not for my years of Discordian training I would have already become the Joker. 🙃

The future of the GOP is overt inceldom.
Fuentes, yesterday: “Our #1 political enemy is women because women constrain everything, every conversation, every man, everything. They have to be imprisoned. They are the ones that are hurting the fertility rate. They're the ones making us sympathetic to poor people, which are also brown people.”
Nick Fuentes: “The number one political enemy in America is women. … They have to be imprisoned.”

In these uncertain times there is something comforting in how utterly predictable some things still are.
Imagine a President bulldozing 1/3 of our Historic White House pocketing $300 million and that doesn’t even crack the top 100 most destructive, vile, disgusting things he’s done, yet here we are

Elon Musk told employees at xAI, his artificial intelligence company, on Tuesday that the company needed a factory on the moon to build A.I. satellites and a massive catapult to launch them into space.

I'm partial to the idea I probably read in lol SparkNotes that Genesis is meant, whether by God or the people we're supposed to believe he inspired to write it, to say that God communicates with humanity symbolically, and, additionally, the one from the preface of my main man Jiddu Krishnamurti's...
Come and see the antichrist inherent in the system!
Conspiracy cultures have all come together. This, and the biggest-scale redistribution of wealth from bottom to the top in human history, are why so many people are going off the deep end.

More soon from me on this, but do read this @etvpod.bsky.social piece on Peter Thiel's Antichrist delusions.

Now every time a new Knights of the Seven Kingdoms ep drops all my brain can think is some version of “Knights of the the seven inches flacid in winter”. This is not a complaint, just an observation.

It’s also super funny to watch the right try to make a moral argument of any sort at this point. Sorry my dudes, that ship has sailed, caught fire and sank.
so funny to see republicans complaining about this as if they have not been pulling this shit for 15 years.

The dangers of reading Chuck Tingle I guess…
Just in: Texas' former solicitor general has left the AG's office amid sex misconduct allegations and a lawsuit outlining his apparent, months of detailed disclosures to colleagues about his sexual obsession with watching an asteroid anally rape the agency's No. 2 attorney in front of his kids.

I worry that folks don’t realize just how normalized this stuff is on the right at this point. Southern strategy is done, we’re back to people openly defending overt racism, and have been for a while. I think the self-denial is strong for those whose jobs depend on pretending it ain’t so.
President Donald Trump went on a wild social media posting spree late Thursday night and into Friday morning, one that included a video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.

Hey, if you know someone who studies beliefs about conspiracy theories, maybe check in on them and see how they're doing. Make sure they're not drinking alone at least.
Jeffrey Epstein’s brother Mark sent a tip to the FBI accusing Trump of authorizing his murder:

“I have reason to believe he was killed because he was about to name names. I believe Present Trump authorized is murder.“

I will not read a piece by Ross, even if he takes a loss. I will not read it while in bed, I will not read it in the head. I will not read this shitty man, I refuse to suffer Sam-I-Am.

Holy fuck this video is simultaneously worse, funnier, and dumber than I could have possibly imagined.
Kindergarten teacher called a prank ICE hotline thinking it was real. She called to report her 6 year old student to ICE to try to get them and their family deported.

6 years old.

She does not enjoy hearing her own words and actions played back to her.

Intellectual humility doesn’t require us to be open to absolutely anything being true | Aaron Rabinowitz

It is right to have epistemic humility, and awareness of the limits of our knowledge - but that doesn't mean we need to be open to absolutely every possibility.

Aristotle, undefeated! (except for all the bigotry)
Thanks for this essay. One of the better things I’ve read in a while. I think we recently discussed Street Epistemology here. I like your Aristotelian golden mean approach to intellectual humility.

I wrote a piece on intellectual humility and why it can be a problem to focus too much on attacking certainty rather than knowing when it is okay to be very confident about claims. I look specifically at problems in movement atheism and skepticism. Enjoy!

For some reason my brain thinks reaping should come before sowing. So whenever I reference the ancient texts I’m like “me reaping vs. me sowing”. I dunno if it’s the first letters or what, but it’s funny to me every time.
