susan suffers from something i certainly suffer from too. that thing where you let people walk all over you. she lets chloe do whatever she wants and threatens consequences but never gives them. i do the same with my own siblings. family tends to make us *stupid* about things.

THEN GREENE. Greene who loves his job but loves his family and can't find balance between the two. But also being in an abusive relationship. Not physical but emotional, in that, she doesn't consider his feelings or his wants. But then again... is that incompatibility or have they just grown apart?

I also see a lot of myself in doug. that sort of search for companionship in fleeting things. short lived relationships or flirting. that kind of... avoidance of something serious because it might not work out. that fear of absolutely fucking things up so you fuck them up first.

GOD and to think!!!! carol was going to die in the pilot. but damn. she made it the whole first season. julianna margulies is such an amazing and talented actress. she really has so much charm and charisma on screen. especially with george clooney as doug. their exchange in the chapel always get me.

another thing. I remember not liking Dr. Swift when I first watched ER as a kid with my mom, but now that I'm officially an adult with a developed prefrontal cortex, I really see that Greene lost his groove once Jen took the job in Milwaukee. his head wasn't in the game. he needed that push.
