LBN 437 The Gecko Nebula captured from my dark site in southern France last month 🇫🇷 😊🔭

It was shot on the EdgeHD 8 with Hyperstar for a total integration time of 8 hours in OSC and Mono. The red nebulosity was enhanced with Ha data.

Newborn rhinos are extremely vulnerable. They need to be shielded from even the slightest chill, hence Chamboi's woollen, cherry red blanket. It was such a favourite when he first came into our care, that he flatly refused to wear anything else! Meet the rhinos currently in our care: t.co/CvOTGiQk8X

Menkib and the California Nebula. After failing to get the whole nebula into the FOV, I tried something different: focusing on the tension between that beast of a star and the nebula.
Gear: 130/910 mm APO, ASI 2600MM Pro & SHORGB filters. Total exposure: ~15 hours over 4 nights. #astrophotography

The Pacman Nebula NGC 281 in Cassiopeia had been on my wish list for several years, and now, over the course of 4 nights in September & October, I finally got it. Visually not an easy object due to light pollution, but really fun to photograph (tech. details in image) 🔭

A bit of #astrophotography drizzling, cropping, and sizzling on #M82 to show just how gorgeous those H-alpha jets are 😍.

Can you please plate-solve this @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?

Marrying H-alpha and LRGB data while doing #astrophotography can reveal cool things in space like those reddish jets of matter coming out of the nucleus of M82 (a buddy of M81, one of our neighbor galaxies).

Where do you put this @kat-astro-bot.bsky.social ?

It’s a bird… it’s a plane… it’s Super-Kipekee! Her bright blue 'cape' is as practical as it is stylish: Newly orphaned calves arrive cold, traumatised, and desperately missing their mothers' warmth. A soft blanket becomes their security – physical comfort that says "you're safe, you're not alone."

This marked the moment Chamboi met his SWT family - and took his first helicopter flight. We rescued this tiny newborn after he was found completely alone at the height of a drought. That was back in 2023. Despite his tough start to life, Chamboi is now thriving: swt.bio/chamboi

28 seconds. That's all it takes for Tytan to finish his bottle of specialist formula milk. We hand feed this orphan black rhino milk on a schedule throughout the day. Come nightfall, he enjoys a bounty of leafy vegetation in a night time stable, which keeps his tummy full overnight: swt.bio/tytan

Team work in #astrophotography 🔭📷 gives nice results. Here is M33, a neighboring galaxy combining images from 3 setups. I'm always amazed with its bright blue stars that can be resolved from several million light years away.
