i get this & there’s merit to it but a) the fact that she even got the VF gig in the first place is a huge indictment of the cliquish ethical bankruptcy of media’s upper echelons, so they don’t get points for CYAing now + b) she prob would’ve kept that gig if she hadn’t doubled down on the grift!
Not to defend Olivia Nuzzi, who broke every rule in journalism and promoted a charlatan to his current position. But it's incredibly telling that she will lose her job, but RFK Jr. gets to stay in his job despite the reports of his drug use, his affairs and his defenestrating of public health.

with this new Vance-ian NSS, I do have to wonder if the European center will finally develop a counter-strategy beyond "adopt the same positions as the far-right"

MAGA and Regime Change in Europe
The new US foreign and security policy is often described as isolationist. But its activities in Europe are increasing: not in military terms, but in political ones.

an editor should have scrawled SHOW DON'T TELL over this section then redlined it all dear god
Can someone who has read Nuzzi's book let me know if this is actually a thing in it? Or is this one of those "JD Vance bangs couches" things? x.com/bryancurtis/...

Spotify excitedly reporting that I listened to 14 albums this year is so dumb. (I use another app for podcasts and I am very glad to not have an accounting of how many hours of TrueAnon I listened to)

I know multiple humanities PhDs who’ve been recruited by AI companies and I’m not sure if this is why, but….
in a sane world this would cause alarm but i think it actually leads to a trend of defense contractors hiring classics professors

i know we're still in the midst of figuring out what Hilma af Klimt was really doing but i'm so irritated NYMag used one of her images to illustrate yet another piece about losers thinking ChatGPT is real and in love with them.

boyfriend and I are trying to buy rail tickets for a little jaunt from London to the countryside next week but GWR will not accept our £162 no matter how hard we try across multiple platforms. Somehow this feels emblematic of various other problems in contemporary Britain.

this piece was published after the entire world saw Biden’s age and senility at play on the debate stage. Bad argument!
Just remembering how one of the most important and widely read and dropped-with-maximally-damaging-timing "Biden is old and senile" pieces was reported by Nuzzi. It makes you think!
well, I read it, and the salient, non-gross part is Lizza alleging, midsentence and without elaboration, that Nuzzi ran numerous “catch-and-kill operations” on RFK’s behalf, which would give her a role in both his appointment and the untold preventable deaths he has abetted in office. Cool.
