Honestly I don’t know what cards ND thinks they hold bc I imagine that neither the big ten nor SEC would give them the deal the ACC currently does. Also the conferences are already closed in on critical mass and are in scheduling hell already.

I think covering sports really rots the fan in you bc there’s like 2 cool things that can happen in the CFP:
1. Indiana running the table bc of the program turnaround
2. Tulane or JMU upsetting someone
I wanna see my team win, my rivals lose, all-time greatness, and all-time upsets.

You can go 11-1/10-2 in the SEC without a single ranked SEC win but yeah the issue is some G5s getting to enjoy some success.

I don’t know how big of a deal this really is bc sure maybe like 6 schools can/should promise recruits the cfp but if you’re recruiting kids with the understanding that you’ll not “settle” for a pop tarts bowl level game and you’re not ND, Clem, UGA, OSU, or Bama…that’s dumb. Youre not on that level
Curious if this was a team vote situation. If so, understandable because of injury risk, etc. I do think this is the natural progression for a sport that has made the playoff *everything*.
10-2 Notre Dame announces it will not accept a bowl bid after missing the playoff.

I think it’s fine that ND isn independent but I also think it’s fine to point out that if they were just officially in the ACC, they would’ve just played UVA and would maybe be hosting a playoff game if they won. Also think them acting too good for a bowl shouldn’t be a surprise to the acc/bowls

Indiana went undefeated, Duke is ACC champion, and Tulane & JMU are in the tournament to win the title in football and instead of celebrating all that cool quirky stuff I’m supposed to be mad about how a committee ordered 3 teams that I’m pretty sure aren’t the best team in the country anyways?
I dont understand the assumptions that Ole Miss is close to the caliber of job as LSU. You can have good seasons at any P4 (Duke’s last 3 coaches have all had 9+ win seasons) but like…recruiting kids to LSU has to be 10 times easier than recruiting to a school whose name is a homage to slavery.

They want to adjust the acc tie breaker to distract you from the fact that we can’t really function with conferences this big. TAMU went from a sure fire bye to maybe having to play Duke in the first round in a revenge game all because of one loss

Isn’t duke one of the schools that wasn’t trying to leave the conference? It’s arguably the biggest basketball brand in the country and has invest heavily in football to the point of closing in on 4 straight 8+ win seasons. They’d sue the hell out of the acc with good reason
This might be an unpopular take ... but if I'm the ACC and Cal upsets SMU, I override the tiebreakers and put Miami in the ACC championship game against Virginia.

Bryce is only almost decent in a spread 5 wide offense which is like 5 years outdated and the panthers offense would clearly work so much better if they could just be a condensed power running team with a QB who can play under center and brings…just something to the table
