I hope folks realize that between Trump, Kushner, Hegseth, Witkoff, Noem, RFK, Jr., Kash Patel, and Tulsi Gabbard, this country is almost entirely undefended.

There are common interests, including that Trump wants to be seen as one of the two Big Men (Putin is the other) deciding the fate of the world. Including money.
But it's clear that Trump and Witkoff understand nothing of what is happening. All that is more than enough to explain their actions.

I have not read the full Witkoff transcript. The snippets I've seen can be interpreted 2 ways: 1) He is collaborating with Russia, and 2) He does not understand the negotiations, nor what is necessary to even start talking about ending the war and is making a ploy to show good will to the Russians.

As fields like journalism, art, and academia were collapsed and living expenses skyrocketed they came to skew increasingly toward people whose families could afford to supplement their income.

If you're ever wondered why journalists seem so out of touch most of the time it's because in order to establish yourself you need to either come from money, marry into money, or be OK with abject poverty and daily financial panic
