I didn't want to start any arguments but my hot take is that this game is so good because it focuses on every other aspect that most Zelda games don't do (and when they do, it isn't always done well), like the emphasis on side quests and characters over actual dungeons.

For me, this is the absolute best Zelda game. There is so much it does right. The time loop system. An incredible well designed central town hub with memorable NPCs. A strong focus on side quests and characters. Asset reuse done right. Letting you roll around as a god damn Goron.

Development started out of a lack of enthusiasm to work on the expansion for Ocarina of Time, N64DD's "Ura Zelda".
Eiji Aonuma protested, so Miyamoto challenged him to make a sequel for the game within 1 year!

I wasn't fully aware of just how big Nadesico was in Japan until I started digging into late 90s JPN Newtypes.

the Trails games are great because when you're playing trails in the sky 1 or 2 you're constantly laughing at everyone cryptically saying shit like "even HE'S getting involved now" and then by the time you're five games deep YOU'RE the one going "HE'S getting involved?!" when some fucker shows up

Do I prefer this to its predecessor? It's an interesting question. Silksong is definitely harder, but I can imagine Hollow Knight feeling a lot more restrictive after playing this. Silksong does rely a bit too much on enemy swarm fights for my liking, but Hornet is a better protagonist...

Worth the wait! Hornet is so much fun, both to witness and play as, especially as you unlock her wealth of movement options. Amazing boss fights and brilliant level design. For as long as it is in contrast to its predecessor, it never felt like padding to me.
