8 years, 375 episodes, 1.4 million (!) listens, countless mispronunciations. Pretty overwhelmed by the reaction to this!

👋 Hello everyone, bit of an announcement from me and @panchero.bsky.social - after 8 years, I've decided to call time on the podcast. One for the road:

Game 14: Hallam 1-1 Consett AFC, Sandygate, Northern Premier League East. Glorious afternoon at Sandygate and over 1,000 in. Visitors probably shaded this one but Hallam had a late goal contentiously ruled out.

We have some upcoming news that we are VERY excited to share next week.

Thank you for making the future of 1000xRESIST so bright. Hekki grace. 💙

In the meantime, here's a little sneak preview of what's to come...

Oh nice, thank you!

Where do you find results / tables etc, incidentally? Our club account is quite inconsistent in what it provides updates on...

5️⃣6️⃣0️⃣ days later, Sheffield United Women have won a home game! So of course, I wrote 2,000 words about the victory over Ipswich that lifts the Blades up the #WSL2 table:

MD5: Blades beat Ipswich to earn a first home win in 18 months
Two Amy Andrews goals and another from Charlie Devlin give United their first win of the season

Oof that last angle 🤩
bnmkn.bsky.social
Appreciate your sacrifice
bnmkn.bsky.social
Thank you! Had they blown it (we were miles better than Ipswich but then seemed to decide to give them a free goal to make it interesting) I think I'd still be crying now. Amy Andrews was immense.

Them NOT BOTTOM BLADES 👏

Game 13: Sheffield United 3-2 Ipswich Town, Bramall Lane, WSL2. A long-awaited and fully-deserved home win for the Blades, who rather let Ipswich off the hook after racing into a 3-0 lead. Amy Andrews with a masterful performance in attack, scoring twice.

Today: can the Blades bag a first home win since March 2024 (ffs)?

New WOMEN OF STEEL is out, as United come oh-so-close to nicking a point against the league leaders Birmingham. I was really impressed with how we played in this one. Big game against Ipswich at home on Sunday.

MD4: United fall just short against league leaders
An excellent effort from the Blades who lose 2-1 to Birmingham City after a late error wipes out Joy Ralph's equaliser

As someone who writes a lot of marketing related copy this was a really useful read in terms of "don't accidentally write like an LLM"!

A fateful encounter, a chilling transformation for the hero of Hyrule.

The coverage and ads for Majora's Mask left little doubt that it was going to be a *different* kind of Legend of Zelda game but still, I imagine quite a few people were caught off-guard by this sequence.
"what's with that stupid horse of yours?!it doesn't listen to a word that's said to it." Says a lounging skull kid in a cutscene screenie from the GC version of Majora's Mask. A close up of Link in profile listening to SK's taunting about getting rid of Epona. A shot of baleful orange-yellow-green eyes as Link transforms into a deku scrub Link staring at his reflection in water in horror, now s cap wearing deku scrub

The Japanese Mario 64 official strategy guide is an incredible thing. "Can we make little hand-made dioramas of all the levels?" "Sure, why the hell not."

Had Xbox Game Pass for a couple of years, always thought it was great value and enjoyed being able to try different games - many of which I'd never normally buy - and drop them if they weren't clicking. 50% price increase though? Think I'm out

Game 12: Sheffield United 1-2 Southampton, Bramall Lane, Championship. I suppose, in fairness, that was more interesting than the other three home defeats so far this season.

I'm assuming Luke Turner will continue to manage the side for the rest of the campaign, but after two straight managerial suspensions for non-footballing reasons this also feels like a great opportunity to hire our first female manager since Carla Ward...

"The tongue is corrupting the memory with its ever expanding length"
mariobrothblog.bsky.social
In Yoshi's Island, a "tongue overflow" glitch exists whereby Yoshi's tongue is able to fly away and begin gaining infinite length, overwriting the game's memory. The tongue-based corruption can have any number of effects, including skipping to the credits and ending the game.
