Cannot overstate how, from my perch as a national-security reporter, this would have been an earth-shattering scandal in a prior era.
Billionaire Binance founder Changpeng Zhao, pardoned by Donald Trump, has been accused of facilitating millions of dollars’ worth of payments to Hamas in the wake of its attack on Israel on October 7 2023. Zhao also financed the Trump family's entrance into the cryptocurrency market.

Gender-affirming care saves lives
1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

Uhh... those aren't cartoony black-and-white prisoner stripes. They're concentration camp uniforms, blue vertical stripes. It's muddling the two a bit (of course they're variations on the same idea) but the AI slop is obviously pulling from pictures of the latter, it's a very distinct color palette.

something i'll note is that if nuzzi ran catch-and-kill ops for rfk jr and lizza knew this prior to him being appointed as HHS, and instead of telling anyone, he decided to save it for his substack long after rfk jr had made communicable disease into federal policy, that's completely fucked

In 2024, Tierra Walker was sick and getting sicker. She was also pregnant.

She knew abortion was illegal in Texas, but thought there was an exception for women like her, whose health was at risk. Doctors told her there was no emergency.

Then she died.

Walker is one of several women ProPublica found with underlying health conditions who died when they couldn’t access abortions.

If the NYT told the story of the homeless teenager exploited by Matt Gaetz with even half as much empathy as it tells the story of Olivia Nuzzi, it would be in danger of committing journalism.

"taking jobs from Americans" really gives away the game. This guy just hates immigrants and thinks they don't belong here, and can be treated as sub-humans.
Bovino: "Whether they were criminals or individuals that were taking jobs from Americans -- you name it, that's what they were doing. And I'll tell you what's gonna happen. We're gonna go even harder on the streets. If he releases those 650, we're gonna apprehend 1,650 on the streets of Chicago."

The value of reading history is you know that in 1860 there were abolitionists who were so demoralized that they thought chattel slavery would be permanent. 5 years later those still alive had lived to see its end.

With current pledges, the world's on track for 2.6°C of warming in 2100 compared to preindustrial levels.

10 years ago, before the Paris agreement, it was 3.6°C

20+ years ago, we thought it would be 4-5°C

So 2.6°C is better, but the problem is that climate impacts are way worse than we predicted.
World still on track for catastrophic 2.6C temperature rise, report finds

P.S. I really, really, really, really want to know who else in the national media establishment knew what Epstein et al was up to and helped cover it up or stayed quiet.

We need a media industry cleansing post-haste of perverted enablers. It didn’t happen with Weinstein, but it needs to happen now.
Reading the advice emails released today show “journalist” Michael Wolff gave Epstein about how to use Trump actions to control him and thinking about all the media men and women who’ve covered for predators. I touched on that horrific reality in below essay.
Re-upping my Epstein essay from August as new information emerges today.

Caution: disturbing descriptions of my and others’ sexual assaults.

Release all the damn files. This is the ultimate test of this nation’s useless partisanship.

‘Nickname’ is not ‘nick’ + ‘name.’

It was originally ‘ekename.’

‘Eke’ was the Middle English word for “also” or “in addition.”

Since ‘ekename’ began with a vowel, people used ‘an’ before it.

Over time, 'an ekename' became 'a nickname.'

In Pennsylvania, Dems swept the top "row offices" in Bucks County, electing the county's first-ever Democratic DA and defeating an incumbent Republican sheriff.

Dems notched victories in county executive races in Erie, Lehigh and Northampton.
