I hate both of these things and feel like a grumpy old man. Just trying to keep my mouth shut.

I want to see a movie, but looking at the listings I can't find anything I actually want to see.

The average user gets limited engagement for what they WANT to talk about, and more engagement for drama bait.
If you don't chase the algorithm, you get de-boosted—Your actual interests getting almost no attention at all.
I prefer quality over quantity.
Where’s Square Strategy?!
We should be on Pentagon Strategy by now.

I usually get tired of having to navigate it for both music and podcasts tho and end up redownloading Apple podcasts.

It really is death by a thousand cuts. I've slowly dropped a lot of subscriptions, eating out less, being so much more frugal. Even then money just gets more and more tight.

Listen, if it's a NEED I've already bought it for myself. Don't judge me for putting video games and comic books on my list.

Prices went up and it now costs $17 to get a black coffee and breakfast sandwich from the local coffee shop.
I get it and I'll still support them but it can't be a weekly visit for me anymore.

Remember, this movie will not and cannot live up to your expectations. Nothing is going to capture that feeling of entering Hyrule Field in OoT or walking out of the cave to the title screen in BOTW.
And that's okay.
It could still be a fun time, it's okay to let ourselves enjoy things

I still enjoy my Wii, I play my Series X on a 13 year old 40 1080p tv. It all looks good enough to me.
Fun games are fun.
(future me: remember this the next time you want to spend extra on 4k Blurays)
