I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

“All of the great things AI can do might not be known yet, and all of the bad things, too. Let’s just take a more balanced approach as we go.”

Unclear how they square going all in as encouraging a balanced approach....

The role of cars in our society results in a uniquely American way that state violence is enacted and justified. Renee Good is just the most recent.

If you work in any area of engineering, planning, or public admin, what we do is relevant to our current historical moment, whether we like it or not.
FYI: Judge Ellis (Chicago ICE case) noted in November that video evidence shows ICE "brake-checked other motorists in an attempt to force accidents that agents could then use as justifications for deploying force."

It can be hard to imagine how to defend oneself against an overwhelming force like ICE. But a few enterprising hackers have started projects to do counter-surveillance against ICE, and hopefully protect their communities through clever use of technology. www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...

I think that some of you are mostly venting. And I get it. But venting is not organizing. And I'm sorry but I don't think people know how to get 10s of millions of people to do anything besides voting in this country.

I need to live in a world where I can privately send that friend money for anything from groceries to car repairs w/o it being woven into some criminal conspiracy ... & w/o having to explain blockchains & wallet addresses."

I have never come across the word "grapuel" in my life. I've lived in snowy climates for about 16 years. Its precipitation consisting of snow pellets.
Few late December showers coming over the Divide this morning from Boulder northward in response to some jet energy. Mostly light sprinkles but light grapuel possible also #cowx

The shutting down of power this week, often with little notice and for days, is unprecedented and unacceptable. We can do better, and I will lead the conversation about how we build greater resilience, better support our communities and businesses, and protect health and safety.

More data centers are coming to Colorado, demanding more power than they'll need. Will customers foot the bill?

THREAD. Today our lawyers will be in a small courtroom in Colorado fighting for a constitutional right for children to hug their parents. Did you know that millions of children every year are barred from hugging their parents because of new policies? Do you know who benefits?

This was obvious with the snap funding freeze, the state freed up $10 million dollars and all went to large food access organizations. The full tapestry of orgs that help out different groups are invisible to many.

Not every hungry person can fill out paperwork or go to a central location.

A friend moved into a place built in the 60s and it has amazing original stove, a Frigidaire flair. It's gorgeous, the burners are on a pull out drawer you can stow away. My photo doesn't do it justice.

Can fun electric stove r&d get some of that AI money?

People used to say I was being hyperbolic when I would list the similarities between Saudi and the US. I grew up in Saudi and my ived to the US as a young adult.

Relieved it's more obvious to people now, it's always been there
From a few days ago, but this moving piece by @karenattiah.bsky.social for The Guardian is cogent, illuminating, and infuriating.

Fuck Trump, and fuck all the fascist collaborators, including Bezos and his monsters corrupting the Washington Post. MBS murdered their reporter.
