David Lynch left our world a year ago today. I think about this man and his incredible, strange, personal work every day and try my best to make him proud with my own art.

Inside front cover of a new sketchbook. I said I was done with Godzilla portraits, but I'm never going to stop drawing Godzilla.

Went and paid my membership dues at one art gallery, visited another whose owner wants me to do some cool stuff with her, and finally visited the art museum to look at deranged Salvador Dali etchings and see some friends works.

I feel just a little bit better about the world now.

8.) "Nothing Captures the Heart of My Queer Anger Like Godzilla" - essay by @brettpunk.bsky.social

Thank you @derekbgayle.bsky.social for bringing this to my attention. Intriguing perspective.

I wonder if the manga "The Gay Who Turned Kaiju" has similar thoughts www.them.us/story/godzil...
Nothing Captures the Heart of My Queer Anger Like Godzilla
Godzilla's chaos isn't mindless. It's a reaction to being deemed too strange and dangerous to inhabit our world.

Ignoring the original, my top five are:
1. Godzilla Vs Megalon
2. Godzilla Minus One
3. Shin Godzilla
4. Godzilla: Tokyo SOS
5. Godzilla Vs Biollante
Your Godzilla top 5 should include at least one or two Showa picks OTHER than the original, a Heisei and/or Millennium that everyone in the room would look you like you had three heads for loving, and Shin. Them’s the brakes.

Every other social media site has been enshittified by algorithms. The USP of this place is that it is social media as it used to be, as it should be - where there isn't a rinky-dink computer programme getting between you and your friends.
Serious word of advice to newbies. The Discover Feed. Never use it. Waste of time. The Following Feed is what you need; all the posts from the people you follow in the order they posted them.

I recommend removing the Discover Feed by clicking on the # in the top right to manage your Feeds list.

This city is at its best when it is full of art made by and for New Yorkers. Access to the arts growing up here, through student discounts and education programs, is why I have a career in theater. It means a lot to see a politician champion this cause
“When I speak about making our city more affordable, my vision is not limited to the homes that we live in or the child care that we’re making universal — it’s also a vision where we make it possible for working people to afford lives of joy, of art, of rest, of expression.”

I'm reading my wife's favorite poetry book, by the man who taught her creative writing class, and every poem is hitting me directly in the chest and I can't work out how or why it's working the way it does.

There's something powerful and intangible at work here that I rarely get to experience.
