🧵 Trump administration AI policy is widely described as deregulatory. This description is misleading. What's happening is not the absence of governance but its rearrangement--intensive state intervention operating through mechanisms we don't typically call regulation. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
The mirage of AI deregulation
One of the most interventionist approaches to technology governance in the United States in a generation has cloaked itself in the language of deregulation. In early December 2025, President Donald Tr...

Dems need to stop acting like what ICE is doing is an accident, or a failure of policy, or a tactic of distraction.

It's the policy. And that's fucking terrifying, because it means that there's no negotiating with it, no ameliorating it.

There's only defeating it, or being defeated by it.

It used to be that victims of murders in the U.S. would be smeared by InfoWars and Gateway Pundit as a way to fetishize guns and violence for ad dollars and supplement sales, with the added benefit of cozying up to far-right politicians. Now that work is done by CBS News.

Notice how these guys approach with the type of aggressive urgency one would expect if they were apprehending violent, armed killers, like themselves.
I keep being told that no one can do anything that's against the law, and that ICE have no jurisdiction over US citizens. This video would seem to suggest that one of these beliefs is wrong.
For days, Skye (last name withheld)—a disabled U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Minneapolis resident—has been participating as part of a citizen observer effort to warn neighbors about ICE presence in their communities.

On Jan. 11, Skye and her friend Elizabeth were pulled over and detained.

This is completely fucking unacceptable. Shut this terrorist government down until it stops brutalizing its own citizens.
Today at 34 & Park in Minneapolis, a woman tried to drive down the street where a protest had broken out in front of a home ICE was raiding, saying she had a doctor apt to get to. ICE agents busted out her windows, cut off her seatbelt, and pulled her out before arresting her.
