1/ Sometime in the next few months I expect we'll be bombarded with op-eds along the lines of, 'My Friendship With Jeffrey Epstein Was a Mistake--But Do I Really Deserve To Be Canceled For It?'

And the response should be, 'Yes, motherfucker, you do.'
It is incredibly difficult to find a wrong way to criticize Jeffrey Epstein, but hot damn, Fox News hosts managed to find one.
Current state of things: One Fox News host casually declares that Epstein’s money comes from “Jewish billionaires” and a “Jewish banking family,” another responds that he was a “sex rabbi.” www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/jes...

I mean, maybe the racism was a distraction from all the Epstein clients he put in his Cabinet? Trump is so immoral it's impossible to focus.
Trump posted a video depicting the first Black president and his wife as apes and his excuse for this is that it's a riff on The Lion King, a movie that does not feature any apes. Somehow this was a one-day story and we've already moved on.

John 'I Am Begging to Lose a Primary' Fetterman today reminded us of what a great guy he was by not calling Kristi Noem 'ICE Barbie.'
What a story:

“Lewandowski and Noem, both married, have denied the reports of the affair, but people said they do little to hide their relationship.

“The pair have been using a luxury 737 MAX jet, with a private cabin in back, for their travel around the country”

I can't stop thinking about this. The pig-ass ignorance of this cracker is almost as annoying as the racism.
Trump nominated a legit white nationalist to a top post at the State Department. I asked him some basic questions about his belief in the “erasure of white culture”. Watch this embarrassing, fumbling answer. Like he has never before been asked to explain his views.

Look: I know the economy is an important issue.

But when a president launches basic assaults on the structure of our fair republic, it shouldn't matter whether the economy's doing well or poor. A clear majority should be opposed to him.
"There are plenty of reasons why Trump’s job performance is polling on par with the less glamorous STDs.

One reason is thatthe Trump administration is committed to its increasingly unpopular programs of ethnic cleansing and murder. Also: it’s the economy, you stupid fascist."

First Draft today:

One of Trump’s favorite pollsters warns he’d lose to Biden in an election held today. Plus, the DOJ is spying on lawmakers who search the Epstein files, and a balloon gets mistaken for... a drone.

Also these goddamn idiots who talk about 'white culture' as it relates to America: WE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A MUTT OF A CULTURE AND WE ARE BETTER FOR IT.

America without Miles Davis, Langston Hughes, James Baldwin, Maya Angelou, or Michael Jordan would not be America!

"I would say that the Black church is different from the white church in tone and style...'

Yeah, the Black church actually emphasizes some joy and optimism instead of making you feel like shit about yourself for three hours! IMO, that's better!

This is the Rand Paul I'd hoped we'd see in Trump's first term: Shit on economic policy but solid on civil liberties.
Rand Paul: "I see not even a hint here of anything aggressive on [Pretti's] part. I don't think this should take months and months. There needs to be a conclusion ... the public needs to know, if I go to a protest and shout something at people, could I be killed?"

This was a truly disastrous decision and it came from the pre-MAGA court.
“When Citizens United was decided in 2010, billionaires had spent $18 million on the 2000 election, $13M 2004 and $16M in 2008. Then came the deluge. In 2012 it was $231M, and nearly doubled again in next three election cycles —to $682M in 2016, $1.2 billion in 2020 and $2.6 billion in 2024.” Gift:

Those of us who hate AI want it to fuck off forever and wish we didn't have to deal with it.

At the same time we may have no choice.
I confess I do not understand why “the left should prepare for the worst case scenario with AI and jobs” seems to have elicited such a strong negative reaction bsky.app/profile/chri...
I understand why people are exhausted by AI hype, and why those of us squarely in the corner of "human dignity uber alles" see AI doomerism as self-serving hype, but I *really* think people on the left broadly need to start thinking seriously about the possibiltiy of the hype being...true.

Facebook just promoted a Free Press article on my feed scolding us for making ICE agents into 'cartoon villains,' and here they are laughing about shooting an unarmed woman.
“My 15 mins of fame. Lmao.” -- Border Patrol agent, texting someone to brag about shooting a woman multiple times in Chicago.

Imagine almost killing someone and then responding with a "laugh my ass off" www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
DHS shot her and called her a “terrorist.” New videos show something different.
"It’s time to get aggressive," a Border Patrol agent said shortly before Marimar Martinez was shot five times.

Let's put Burgum in a room and pump lots of CO2 into it and see how he handles it.
Burgum: "CO2 was never a pollutant. When we breathe, we emit CO2. Plants need CO2 to survive and grow. They thrive with more CO2. So the whole endangerment thing opens up an opportunity for the revival of clean, beautiful, American coal."

big reason why the oligarch class went so hard for Trump. they HATE lots of job creation because when your workers can quit and get another one the next day, it's much harder to abuse them
With revisions, the +130,000 jobs in January is actually the best of the Trump's term. He didn't have a single month over +100,000 in 2025, with 3 months of job losses.
Also Biden is no longer the only president ever to have positive jobs numbers every month of his tenure. Jan '25 is now negative.

So Big Tech's grand vision seems to be the following: Get AI to put people out of work en masse. Then make people dependent on universal income that limits their individual earning power. Then get people to spend that income on addictive sports betting apps.
February 11, 2026 at 1:24 PM
Yep. They want AI to target and replace any potential obstacles to their accumulation of greater power.
Instead of taking this at face value, think of it as a *hit list* of targets that billionaires would like to eradicate.

Translators, historians, broadcasters, political scientists...

...now do you get the picture?
