1/ Sometime in the next few months I expect we'll be bombarded with op-eds along the lines of, 'My Friendship With Jeffrey Epstein Was a Mistake--But Do I Really Deserve To Be Canceled For It?'

And the response should be, 'Yes, motherfucker, you do.'
It is simply insane how Putin has destroyed so much to gain so little.

Adam’s right. It’s more important than ever that our institutions defend First Amendment rights, and that means not firing teachers illegally whether their offense was “Go ICE” or saying something less than hagiographical about Charlie Kirk. Fewer people want to hear that in ugly times.

Am I going to be the only one to suggest that firing a public school teacher for speaking out on a matter of public concern raises profound First Amendment issues, and we should pause before cheering on such actions when that power can be weaponized against progressive teachers in red places? 1/3
This “beloved” Chicago teacher, James Heidorn, believes he was pushed out of his job due to a two-word post on his Facebook account.

Oddly enough, the heavily Hispanic district didn’t appreciate him posting “GO ICE”.

There's going to be a left-wing populist revolt coming no matter what. Why? Either the AI Bros succeed in their question to put everyone out of work while gobbling up all the wealth OR they fail and crash the economy when the AI bubble bursts. But the conditions have never been more ripe.

Bring it. Fail faster.
There’s going to be Covid style shortages of cars, TVs and even washing machines and fridges, then job losses because assembly lines can’t source solid state memory, just so the stupidest person you know can state with 100% confidence a chatbot confirmed dinosaurs coexisted with humans.
I understand framing the AI bubble RAM supply crisis in terms of stuff like video game consoles because nerds can conceptualize that but the framing does really undersell the sheer magnitude of how it's going to fuck up everything that even touches a computer.

I know I have to welcome theses dudes back with open arms but... Sigh... How many more times will they fall for this crap.
New from me in @theatlantic.com: "Young people who voted for Trump have said that they believed him during the campaign when he promised to 'build the greatest economy in the history of the world.' Now they say they feel duped and let down." www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

The smart oligarchs of old used to give generously to ensure the public didn't gulag them.

This group is not so smart.
pretty stunning chart

Excellent. The worse the better.*

*I have rejected accelerationism throughout my entire life because I don't like rooting for pain. But we're at a point where we need the backlash to Trump to be as big as possible to get out of this.

My Sunday afternoon project was making Xawaash, a spice mixture used in Somali cuisine that is, in a word, divine.

Racist idiots who shit on Somali cuisine have zero idea what they are talking about.

This son of a bitch is still bitter that Nelson Mandela took 'his' country and he wants to recreate it here.

He's going to fail. America has always been multicultural.

At this point, making the rich 'pay their fair share' (aka returning to Clinton era top tax rates) is not nearly enough.
wealth concentration is already 200% as bad at is was in 2020. think about that
The pace at which US wealth concentration is rising is simply staggering

The concentration of AI wealth into the hands of a few tech barons + plutocratic capture ==> unchartered territory

At the Munich Security Conference this weekend, I told a hard truth. There is no ceasefire in Gaza. The assault continues. Palestinians continue to die. And Trump is issuing glossy brochures about fake future Gaza real estate deals instead of working to end the war.

This guy is great
Yesterday morning kids were sent running from their bus stop in panic because ICE showed up. This guy at today’s ICE Out of Lindenwold protest is a must watch 😭. @maddow.bsky.social

Obviously don't want him to be president some day but I will always tip my hat to Massie for this. It was was very ballsy.
Whatever could Thomas Massie be worried about? Oh, right.
February 14, 2026 at 4:04 AM
1/ Thomas Massie and Ro Khanna have done us a real service by forcing the release of the Epstein Files.

We as Americans deserve better than having to argue over which type of Epstein buddies would be better at governing.

There's a legit Bernie 2016-to-fascism pipeline.

We are so lucky that they are so fucking stupid.
"The pastor appears to place his right hand on Lemon’s side.

'I want to be respectful, but please don’t push me,' Lemon tells him, and Parnell lifts his hand ....

The [DOJ] indictment alleges, without explanation, that it was Lemon who 'caused the pastor’s right hand to graze Lemon.'"

A Washington Post review of videos from the protest at Minnesota’s Cities Church in January offers a detailed look at Lemon’s movements that day.

It is incredibly difficult to find a wrong way to criticize Jeffrey Epstein, but hot damn, Fox News hosts managed to find one.
Current state of things: One Fox News host casually declares that Epstein’s money comes from “Jewish billionaires” and a “Jewish banking family,” another responds that he was a “sex rabbi.” www.mediamatters.org/fox-news/jes...

I mean, maybe the racism was a distraction from all the Epstein clients he put in his Cabinet? Trump is so immoral it's impossible to focus.
Trump posted a video depicting the first Black president and his wife as apes and his excuse for this is that it's a riff on The Lion King, a movie that does not feature any apes. Somehow this was a one-day story and we've already moved on.
