It would be really cool if the consequences for releasing a game to middling-but-not-overwhelming success, was that you got to use what you learned on your next game instead of you and everyone you work with losing your jobs in an immediate studio shutdown.

For all the grief it gets, I don't think Xenogears text heavy disc 2 is all that bad. At that point you're already 40-50 hours in, the story does need to get in gear and hit a lot of points fast or the game would be a hundred and twenty hours long.
