i’m not gonna remind people on every single post but if you’re going to reply with an image or gif, you should really alt text it. i just hide anyone who doesn’t.

alt text isn’t hard, makes everyone’s lives better, & if your sole raison d’être is spiting bad orange man, he hates accessibility.
anyways, here’s a how and a why explainer for alt text.

the US government decided accessibility was “catering to the weak” as part of the MAHA eugenics agenda. don’t post like those fucking nazi pricks.

nice thing of the day: my mum found a KN95 that doesn't make it harder to breathe and she wants to make sure we never run out !! after over a year of working together to find the right mask and stay consistent, we did it 😷💗

Merry Christmas to everyone spending today alone.

Who’s sick in bed and unable to participate in festivities.

Who’s in the hospital wishing they could be at home.

Who’s caring for someone who’s sick and having a difficult time.

The holidays hit different for us and that’s ok.

using this timely, spine-tingling skeet as a reminder:

two weeks til new years
less than ten days till christmas
it’s already hanukkah —
do you know where your clean air is?

better to plan ahead n practice prevention than get stuck in bed wishing you had!

i swear some ppl have memory holed and buried their own pandemic trauma so well that they can't understand why someone like me refuses to have a "casual" conversation about it all

i will never feel neutral abt covid. it's not a casual topic for me. it's serious conversation, or leave me alone

it's been a year since one of the most vulnerable ppl in my life died of covid. i've spent the last couple days curled up under his blankets, focusing on my mental health

i already didn't want the unmasked festive pics frm friends but this year i can't even find it in me to acknowledge them tbh

A lot of people are sick right now.

Flu and Covid are raging, but the good news is a well fitted respirator can prevent both!

A good mask like an N95 is very effective at stopping flu and Covid.

My article looks at how to choose one, how to fit test, where to buy & more.

Mask up & save lives!
We’re Witnessing the Fall of Public Health… and Your Best Tool is a Mask
Measles in Texas, bird flu in Louisiana, tuberculosis in Kansas and Covid everywhere. Public health has been dying a slow death for years, we can’t count on it anymore. What can we count on? A mask!

Jesus Christ I still can’t believe we’re having discourse with queer people and allies about purchases relating to the terf wizard author/game. We still shouldn’t have to tell you not to buy this shit in any capacity. Like it’s really not hard. Figure it tf out or there’s the door.

As soon as you’re willing to label a certain group of people expendable, the fascists win.

When you decide that social supports aren’t necessary, the billionaires win.

When you demand to pay less taxes even if it causes intense suffering? The 1% wins.

Your worth is not determined by your job, your bank account or your ability to produce for capitalism.

Disabled people have worth.

Children have worth.

The elderly have worth.

The homeless have worth.

Those in power want you to de-value others so you will accept atrocities.

As I always do with boycotts, I urge: be tough with corporations, gentle with individual buyers. For some people, Black Friday sales are the way they get their kids jackets that fit, shoes that hold up to the weather. Yelling at them doesn’t help the cause.

sharing to boost, and to recommend @hauntedbouncy.bsky.social for diverse books and cozy mugs
Instead of doing a consumerism on "Black" Friday, consider supporting small businesses, dropping a few coins in someone's ko-fi or go fund me, sign up for their patreon instead.

Life is expensive, things are hard. Drop coins to humans, not AI, or big corporations today.

Automatic captions make it difficult to watch videos because the viewer is forced to decipher misspelled or mistranslated words that appear in a string of text without any punctuation. These can be distracting and disorienting. Always edit your captions before publishing.

The New York Times obit for Alice Wong doesn’t mention Covid or Gaza

It ignores two of her biggest causes because of political bias

Alice fought tirelessly for Covid mitigations

She fought for the people of Gaza

She rightfully reminded us that the genocide in Gaza is a disability justice issue

I want you to get vaccinated if you can, for everything that you can, to protect both yourself and those who cannot.

I used to have this argument about the flu shot. People I know were all "well i'm young and in good health so i don't need to." Do you care about anyone who is not those things?!
