i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

I'm afraid I'm enough of a sucker for ASOIAF stuff that I'm interested to see what this is like. Only thing that's currently bothering me is that this is now the third accent that we have heard from characters that have supposedly grown up in Flea Bottom.

Having been dragged back into paying attention (largely in a 2nd-hand fashion, admittedly) to Formula 1 through the fact that A Team I Don't Hate are likely to win the Constructor's and Driver's championships, you can imagine my disappointment that the other type has clawed their way back in to it.

Don't think I ever posted about it, but when I was doing all that decorating while I was between jobs last year, one of the things I listened to was the audiobook of Railsea by China Miéville.
Really great book and one I think might work for the kids on long journeys. Anyhoo...

Maybe if we get the guys who are taking the jewellery off the fleeing refugees and dress them up in clothes with skulls all over them as a reminder of the transient nature of riches in the face of our own inevitable mortality, it will make us look like the good guys?
Look, if you are trailing a budget and then immediately walking it back, before trailing an asylum bill and immediately walking it back, then you are just bad at politics and policy. There are no redeeming features here.

I hope I'm being melodramatic and hyperbolic and wrong when I say that if you were trying to usher in a new Dark Ages of ignorance, you'd probably start with doing something along the lines of what is happening to research in the US.
