Fellow instructional faculty, I'm torn about what to do about Canvas in the upcoming semester. On the one hand I hate it and want to not give my work to the university to train AI but on the other hand that is where/how they check everything for accessibility which is good and helpful. What to do?

Another brilliant essay from @eryk.bsky.social, this time he writes the history of ChatGPT against the backdrop of mass loneliness and social distance. This history is still unfolding and the signs are not encouraging for where we are headed.
What was ChatGPT? Now nearly three years old, we can look at OpenAI's LLM as a product of its time, optimized ever since to its earliest uses. While this period of deep disorientation and social isolation has been obscured from public memory, it remains embedded within the interface.

Peter Thiel is obsessed with the Antichrist — but what does he actually mean when he talks about it?

This week @gilduran.com joins @parismarx.com to discuss how Thiel casts his enemies as the Antichrist to distract from Silicon Valley’s anti-human project.
