On this day in 1929, Raymond Moriyama was born in Vancouver.
One of Canada's most acclaimed architects, his buildings include the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo, the Ontario Science Centre, the Bata Shoe Museum, and the Canadian War Museum.
He died in 2023.

There are a lot of different ways to look at this. Halifax is attacking the housing crisis through purpose built rental housing, and trying to get roofs over people’s heads. We need to celebrate that, but I think also still be aware of how unaffordable buying a house has become here.
