I look forward to seeing @lisasmart.bsky.social , as new LD spokesperson for women and equalities, speaking up on this, promoting mutual respect for people's concerns, and rejecting the false divisions that some perceive /seek to sow. Protecting human rights should not be seen as a 'zero sum game'.

Thank you, Wendy. The draft EHRC Code has potential to cause violations of both trans and non trans folk's rights to privacy, freedom of association, protection from degrading treatment and harassment for 'gender reassignment', and to create a costly legal minefield for service providers.

Glad @helenmaguiremp.bsky.social has signed. Most folk are unaware that draft new EHRC Code has potential to muddy/erode human rights of trans and non-trans people in UK + create legal minefield for service providers. Write to MPs urgently to call for parliamentary debate and free vote on Code.

I’ve signed this letter calling for full parliamentary scrutiny of the EHRC’s guidance.

Trans people deserve clarity, dignity, and safe access to services - not uncertainty and exclusion. Parliament must ensure that any guidance reflects lived experience and protects everyone’s rights.

Glad @helenmaguiremp.bsky.social has co-signed this. Most folk are unaware that draft new EHRC Code insidiously muddies/erodes human rights of both trans and non-trans folk in UK + creates legal minefield for service providers. Write to MPs and ask them to demand parliament debate and free vote.

Great to see my MP @zoefranklinld.bsky.social has signed this letter.

Thank you.

If you have a Lib Dem MP it’s worth checking to see if they signed too. If not please ask, Why not? And direct them to this letter signed by their colleagues.

Trans people are anxiously waiting for the EHRC’s final guidance to be published, following its extreme and unworkable interim guidance. I know many are worried it will further the exclusion of trans people. I've written to govt to say that we MPs must be given time to debate it.
Green and yellow writing on a green and pink background, and an image of a letter.

The text reads:
Carla Denyer MP writes to government to demand MPs get a chance to debate new EHRC code of practise

"This is something that is of huge concern to trans people in my constituency of Bristol Central, and to trans people up and down the country." Screenshot of a letter on parliamentary headed paper. The text of the letter can be read at the link in the subsequent post.

Thank you Carla. I hope many other MPs will follow that example.

@stephengethins.bsky.social @eddavey.libdems.org.uk Please call on government to allow parliamentary debate and free vote on the new draft EHRC Code of Practice.

We delivered our joint letter to Parliament demanding full scrutiny, meaningful debate and a free vote for MPs on the new Code of Practice.

Many MPs we have spoken to are now ready to help.

Could not agree more. The idea of the UK leaving the Convention that the UK helped create after 2nd World War in order to protect fundamental freedoms is truly chilling. This seems a very darkening time in UK history.

A pleasure to meet Helen Maguire MP today. I shared concerns about the EHRC's draft Code of Practice which would marginalise trans people and undermine the human rights of us all. Disturbingly, the Code is going for government approval without scrutiny/debate by Parliament. Make your MP aware.

Harrowing TransActual report with accounts of trans folk and others facing abuse and humiliation following the misinterpreted SC judgment and flawed EHRC guidance. Please make MPs aware.

This Open Letter to D of E urges revision of the 2026 RSHE guidance to schools. Please read + consider adding your name.

The guidance puts trans and gender non-conforming pupils at risk. Schools must be spaces where all can see themselves reflected and supported.

Completely agree. The fact that so few MPs (and others) actually know a trans person, and what it is to be trans, is a problem. It means they've no cogent answer to the taunts of manipulative transphobic voices in the media. And too blinded by privilege even to speak to trans people, it seems....

Thank you, Christine. With reports that the EHRC is proposing to ignore half the consultation responses, and government appointing the new EHRC chair against advice from two Parliamentary Joint Committees, the continuing effort needed from Lib Dems and others is huge. @lisasmartmp.bsky.social
carolinemcleod.bsky.social
I'm sorry to see that news, Christine. Thank you for your courage and compassion in all the support you have articulated for trans people. I hope that @lisasmartmp.bsky.social, as your successor in that role, and indeed all Lib Dem MP's, will strive equally hard to ensure trans people are heard.

My alter ego, ‘Gilead Woman’, was out again yesterday! 😉😄 This time in grassroots Trans Pride Manchester; fighting for the lives of trans & non-binary folk. Seeing the insidious erosion of their basic rights, visible support from others for this beautiful but vulnerable community is vital.

@eddavey.libdems.org.uk @helenmaguiremp.bsky.social @lisasmartmp.bsky.social See MPs' letter to chair of EHRC calling out the EHRC's appalling treatment of trans folk. What are Liberal Democrats doing to defend trans people? Apart from @cajardinemp.bsky.social, seems to be deafening silence.
seenpoliceuk.bsky.social
Anyone know where this was first announced?

MP's letter to Kishwer Falkner. Kicking her arse properly.
carolinemcleod.bsky.social
Thank you @cajardinemp.bsky.social for asking questions in Parliament to help protect the vulnerable and tiny trans community. More MPs need to do so to expose the false narratives that are peddled in the mainstream media.
carolinemcleod.bsky.social
Never thought I'd feel bound to march in London Pride! The attack on human rights of trans people in the UK is a shocking misdirection. If it is not stopped, I believe the hard-won rights of others - including women - will also be at risk.

Proud to join this mass lobby on 25 June, alongside friends and family. It has never felt more vital to stand up for trans people. Looking forward to meeting our MPs on the day. @helenmaguiremp.bsky.social @stephengethins.bsky.social @eddavey.libdems.org.uk
