Hades II got its hooks in me last night. Supergiant simply do not miss.

My hot take is this: Darren Korb is the best guitar player working in games. The riffs are sweet, sure, but there's no other composer I'm aware of that treats their guitar like a string suite as well.

Hit Silksong credits last night and here's my experience:

When I'm getting bodied by bosses, it's over-tuned, cruel, punishing. Was this even playtested?! I'm muttering angrily. My wife is worried about me.

When I'm winning, it's incredible, an intense tribute to perseverance, what a masterpiece.

When I ask devs to list the tools they use on the daily basis - ESPECIALLY live service devs - the amount of software needed to recreate their work environment is just so vast.

Write down the list of software & tool versions you use, their respective download links, and even an offline copy of the installers if possible. These are needed for reconstitution

Really interesting thread about the idea of a game "respecting your time".

My thing with this is that as the demographic for game players has diversified, the value of the avg. players time has too.

When I was an undergrad, my time couldn't be disrespected because *I* had no respect for it.

The 'does not respect your time' thing is so relative because I feel like all those like super smooth high production games have absolutely no respect for my time, they just want to consume it and give me nothing back in return.

I'm with you. Skate 3 had that floaty-ness which is too Tony Hawk for my taste. Session is actually the Skate 4 we want. I don't want to Christ Air off buildings, I want to spend 15 mins on the same 6-stairs rail to land the perfect line.
